No. The police have no obligation to protect you.

The 2nd Amendment guarantees the people the right to own and carry a gun.

Take our right away to own guns, and those who ARE ALLOWED to have guns will use them for the wrong reasons. In an ever increasing hostile world, those who would be hostile choose not to do so when the tables are turned.

how about actually going after the illegal guns and the criminals who use them instead of once again targeting legal law abiding citizens!

sick of hearing people say guns don't kill people, get a clue, yes they do. compare the number of gun deaths in the U.S. to other countries and you'll see how violent a nation we are becoming...it's sickening

Get a clue. No they don't. If guns kill, so do cars. So do you want to ban those too?

America doesn't have a gun problem. America has a crime problem. Of course you believe that the guns are the reason no doubt. And BTW, when you can find another country with the same socio-economic dynamics, then we'll compare it to the US. Otherwise, you fail.

So no one was murdered before guns? You say violence is up? Funny how it was lower when there were fewer gun laws. Now there are over 20000 guns laws compared to 200 years ago yet senseless crimes are up. Of course back then punishment was much more severe. A good hanging in the courthouse yard beat probation every time. Most criminals now are repeat offenders with page after page of rap sheets compared to then.

The right to self protection is a fundamental right. Banning handguns does not make anybody safer -- just look at the cities that have 100% bans they are crime ridden cesspools. Police cannot protect you they can only collect evidence after a crime has been committed and hopefully capture the criminal -- and they do not have a very good track record at that.

Other countries do not allow their people to own guns -- so naturally gun deaths would be lower. However, death by knifings and bludgeoning are higher. Also, breaking and entering occupied dwellings is higher in those countries. I would prefer the ability to protect myself and my family in the case of someone invading my home rather than depending on the police to arrive in time to prevent harm to me and my family. You have not thought you ridiculously flawed argument through -- it indicates a lack of critical thinking skills.
