The police aren't going to be able to help in time. The system needs the criminals, needs the money obtained from incarceration, programs and fines. They don't like average citizens removing x amount of money. That is why they make it harder for someone to defend their lives and property.

No one can defend themselves. Now Mexicans are unable to defend themselves from billionaire drug cartels who have murdered over 1000 police officer this year, 7 mayors, and over 17000 citizens. You take away gun, you no longer have ANY freedom. You then rely upon the government to be your master.
