Handguns don't commit crimes, it is the person who uses the handgun in an innapropriate manner that commits the crime. A ban on handguns doesn't solve a crime problem because criminals already have no problem breaking the law they aren't all of a sudden going to begin following it and stop having handguns. This is such a silly notion

I agree! I have never met a gun that killed anyone! What kind of idiot thinks that by taking away guns from law abiding citizens, that crime will go away? Why did the crime rate in Florida drop when they passed the Concealed Carry law? Because the criminals were scared that the people that they were taking advantage of, were now packing a gun! It deterred crime! As long as there are bad guys... I am gonna have a gun to defend my home and property! Come try to take mine away! I dare YOU!

It's a constitutional right and should be protected. The object used to commit a crime was not intended for that purpose. The majority should not be punished for the actions of the few...

It has long been a tenant of democracy to have an armed citizenry. This issue has become so strangely politicized that it can be difficult to remember that this is a liberal componenet of the Constitution. In either case, with both political parties standing for nothing, it remains that there should be absolutely no restrictions on weaponry for any citizen. That a citizenry should be as equally armed and capable of self defense as any police or military official.

The Local police answer to the Mayor's office. In a time of crisis, they will protect the Mayor and elected officials. State Police will protect the Governor and the Secret Police and other forces protect the President. Where does that leave us?

To my knowledge, there is no law requireing Police to protect the residents. They aren't even trained to protect you, they are trained to take reports and launch investigations. If you call the Police and they don't show up, you are not allowed to sue anyone for negelect.

This is not to knock Devine Police, they do a great job and they protect us to the best of their ability, but, things change in crisis situations.

I therefore, will not easily relinquish and abandon my personal protection.

Police do protect the pubic but cant be there by your side 24/7 not even does the Mayor have that priveledge. I'm not trying to put you down but that is a fact. Trained, yes police are trained not only to investigate or take reports but to use common sence when the public are in danger. We all apply the same if we are in danger and have a fire arm, some better than others with judgement and to make a long story short hell no they cant have my weapons, and there are alot of people out there sellin guns to criminals just as much as criminals stealing them. Hang them all or shoot them dont feed a criminal and violence will stop........

Most guns on the street come from burglaries.
How many times have you heard of a situation in the news where a gun actually saved someones life?
It is extremely rare.
The majority of people shot with a gun are suicides and the 2nd highest are accidental shootings of a loved one.
In fact you are statistically more likely to shoot and kill a loved one than a criminal.
Oddly enough a person is more likely to die from an accidental shooting by someone they care about than being shot by a criminal.
Take for example back in the pioneer days when everyone could carry a gun out in the open.
It sure wasn't safer than modern times for damn sure.
Also take for example other nations where gun laws are stricter than the USA, gun deaths of everyone, criminals and victims alike are down, also violent crime is no higher than in the USA.
Quit being paranoid morons and get a brain people.

The suicide part is true. Do you have a cite for the second part?

Really? It shouldn't be hard to prove that, should it?

Face it moron, you adore criminal enabling/victim disarmament policies. Professional courtesy or just looking out for some friends/relatives?

You need look no further than Detroit where there is a gun ban. What happens when they ban guns? Crime rises because the criminals know that people can't protect themselves. This bullsh1t that crime goes down is just that, bullsh1t. where you have people who can legally carry a weapon crime is down because the loser criminal doesn't know who is packing! Both my wife and I pack so if a loser tries anything with us we got some precious metal for them.

What part of "Constitutional Right to Bear Arms" is unclear. As stated by someone else, guns are not the problem, the person holding the gun is. We have a right to defend ourselves from attack. Whether that be by person or animal (including some humans).
