They carry a handgun to protect thenself. Police come after the law is broke. I need to protect myself when the law is being broke.

Why would a sane rational person give govt (our worst enemy) the power to regulate firearms. The 2nd amendment prohibits govt from regulating guns. We need guns to be able to kill police or soldiers if the need ever arises. Make govt your servant, not your master.
