Handguns are small and easy to maneuver, making them useful in stopping a home invader.

Handguns are made strictly for killing people. If home defense is desired, shotguns are better for that anyway.

OK but don,t be surprised when you see a lot of people in the grocery store packing shotguns. I prefer a shotgun but it makes people nervous in the bank when I come in packing a 12 gauge pump. Oh by the way I own many handguns and not even one has ever killed anyone. I guess the other 32 million in this country are also defective like mine. Strange that gun dealers stay in business selling guns that have never and probably never will kill anyone.

Really Joe? If handguns are made strictily for killing, what are shotguns and long guns made for? Handguns are easier to get to for defense in the home as well.

Illinois is the ONLY state not to have a right to carry. It is very important to be able to defend your family, self, and property. It has been shown in everyplace that passed a carry law that violent crime has dropped significantly.

I moved from Chicago to Urbana after Cabrini closed down. I still go back to Chicago to collect my disability check. I am always packing because you never know when a chance will arise to make a little extra or a rival member try to bully you. I caint no longer go to Wisconsin because it is now like Indiana allowing the regular folks to pack like me. I just take what is right to feed my children in Springfield, Decatur, Chicago, Chicago Heights, Danville, Urbana, Champaign, Harrisburg, Indianapolis, Rockford, and Peoria. In good old Illinios I don't have to worry about anyone packing cept me and the police. I'm all for gun control cuz guns kill. My little half brother, twice removed, Bobo, got gunned down by a handgun. He was a case of mistaaken identity, standing over some lady in her house late at night.

Most crimes involving weapons are ILLEGALLY obtained firearms. I think that it would be silly to ban handguns because then only gangs and criminals would have weapons. Does that even make sense? Plus, i have the right to own a firearm in the constitution. If some people don't want a gun, then don't get one. I won't be there to shoot the person breaking into your house with a weapon while you are unarmed.

Cook county officials are main reason Concealed Carry is NOT legal in Illinois. The IRA (Illinois Rifle Association) has support of the NRA in fighting to legalize Concealed Carry. All citizens need to ban together show support for these two groups. Here is a web site to get you started. The site is free to join and has loads of information about the legal law suits and amendments. Protect your 2nd amendment right to protect yourself.

I agree shotguns are very good for home protection. It is not always practical or safe for most folks to have a loaded shotgun handy. An unloaded firearm is of no use for protection and can not be carried easily away from home. A loaded unattended shotgun would not be the safest option in the home. A pistol however can be carried on person at all times. I wear mine while cleaning house, running errands. My weapon is always loaded and never unattended. There are many holster options even for women.
Also another point is a semi auto pistol is no more lethal than any other firearm. Just my opinion.
