A ban on handguns would mean only criminals would have access to guns.

If you ban handguns only criminals will have them.

I want to know I have protection from an intruder. If there was gun control I would be helpless (and dead).

Can't ban guns up here on the North Coast. If you do the dam bears will eat your ass in your own yard! And try and call a cop sometime. Who they gonna send? The rent-a-cop that you see in Nehalem about twice a year? And he is about 150 years old.

Not only the bear but the coyotes nd tweakers. Got nothing against any of them but its just a case of the bears and coyotes got big teeth and claws, and the tweakers have guns, though you could maybe buy it from them before they ever shot ya, ya just never know.

never, For one this country needs to stop blaiming the guns and start figuring out whos using them . another thing. When I was a Kid 13. 50 years ago I was required to be educated on the use of guns by qualified teacher. That was after getting told by parents over and over how dangerous they were and getting my ass kicked for pointing one in the wrong direction. It has left me with a profound respect for them. i passed the knowledge of caring for firearms to my Kids.

Astoria doesn't have a choice, the Oregon Constitution says that at most, localities can restrict the open carry of loaded firearms. That's it. And if you hold a Concealed Handgun License, you're exempt from those ordinances, even.
So even in the few Oregon cities that have enacted such ordinances (Portland, Beaverton, Salem, and a couple others,) you can legally carry an *UNLOADED* firearm openly; and with a Concealed Handgun License, you can carry a loaded firearm both concealed and openly.

A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone! Need I say more? I may be moving there and my gun WILL move with me...
