Granted, God is not mentioned in the Constitution, but He is mentioned in every major document leading up to the final wording of the Constitution. For example, Connecticut is still known as the "Constitution State" because its colonial constitution was used as a model for the United States Constitution. Its first words were: "For as much as it has pleased the almighty God by the wise disposition of His Divine Providence…"

Most of the fifty-five Founding Fathers who worked on the Constitution were members of orthodox Christian churches and many were even evangelical Christians. The first official act in the First Continental Congress was to open in Christian prayer, which ended in these words: "...the merits of Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Savior. Amen". Sounds Christian to me.

Ben Franklin, at the Constitutional Convention, said: "...God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid?"

So yes we were founded on Christianity, though the world has now turned us into a mix of different beliefs. On the view of for or against gay marriages, I as a devout Christian am against it.

Leviticus 20:13

If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
No, I am not saying ANYONE be put to death, but if one were to take in the fact of our country's first love, God, that one would not interject themselves into a marriage of the same sex

Because homosexuality is a detrement to the society in which it is present. It is a perverse act that the individual could repress if they so choose.

I agree that it is wrong as according to the word of God, but why can't we let God do the judging. God has given us the gift of choice and the last time I checked that was the very definition of freedom. Everyone, including homosexuals, should have the right to their choice as the good Lord intended it. If their choice is the wrong one, then it is only between them and God. I think that many of us want to withold this right from our homosexual citizens not because it is wrong, but because it makes us uncomfortable. I believe the word of God and that means that I believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman, but in the end.... is it really any of our business? Will it really affect us personally? We will all be judged for our wrong doings on this Earth and no sin is lesser than another in the good Lord's eyes.

By your logic, infertile couples shouldn't marry either.
And by your logic, you must have your head up your hind end...you go ahead and try to fertilize those eggs you think are in your boyfriend's hind end...I'll be awaiting to see what you will name the result.

I'll tell you what. When those who are using a book to deny others a right fulfill all the rules in that book, the right is denied to gay people.

However, you must understand: In order to fulfill the rules you have to obey in order to block that right for the gay people, you need to obey Leviticus 19:19 and kill your spouse and every one of your children (before they kill you) since all of us have worn garments made of mixed material. That Polyester Cotton blend shirt you wore and didn't even think about? It earned you a death sentence, but it earned every one in your family one too. Get cracking. They've read this post already and have a head start on you.

When the vast majority of the 72 people who have already responded to this thread reply soaked in their loved one's blood, we'll get to the rest of the rules you so heartily quote so that you can use a religious reference for denying someone a reason to marry.

Or, you know, you can just let love be love.

Before you call me gay, I am a married ordained minister, father of several children, and guy who likes to live and be happy rather than constantly oppress people. Several of you are coming to me some weeks and listen to me preach. I minister at one of the largest churches in the area.

People read the Bible better who gave you the power to judge? Just get over yourself!! Preach all you want but it wont get you nowhere all your doing is pushing yourself further in the closet or pushing others around you. And to tell the truth nothing is wrong with being true to yourself you'll just set yourself up for confusion in the long run if ya aint. But here is the cold hard truth. With each new generation comes change n yal old timers( closed minded) people r a dying breed so just get over yourself and be accepting.

Everyone wants to throw the bible in on this but why only use the bible on this topic why not everything else... A sin is a sin one is not greater then another. We are all humans and we all sin if you say you don't sin then you are a lie. We need to stop haten on each other and try to help and love one another. It's sad that it takes something like this to get people to talk about the bible and use it. It's not our place to judge people. Have you ever thought that when you say something hatful that it may be the one time that pushes them over the edge and they do something that they shouldn't. Stop the hate and be nice.

Yes, once we reach the age of accountability we become sinners. But, preaching/teaching against sin is what we are commanded to do.

Fine preach and teach all you want... but also be aware that what you believe what you preach about is irrelevant to the law. We are not a theocracy. We do not do a biblical litmus test on laws t o be sure they go with what your holy book says.

you don't want theocratic rules regarding marriage? Then why worry about civil law regarding such? Theocracy recognized it long before civil.
