When did you make the choice to be straight? Did you one day decide not to have sex with men? Are you saying you could change and have sex with men and enjoy it and be happy?

Would you like a fact? Gays, living the gay lifestyle do not statistically live as long as heterosexuals.
Pretty good proof that it's unhealthy.
Wrong.

Gays, particularly men, who live a sexually dangerous lifestyle are more likely to contract HIV/AIDS. Since men are leches in general and gay men are no exception to this rule it should not be shocking to learn that - particularly in the past - a lot of gay men were enjoying a very dangerous sexual lifestyle. HIV/AIDS has turned that trend around quite a bit.

If you just look at a big lump sum of statistics you'll probably see that the lifespan of a gay man vs. a straight man is different, but like all statistics you have to dig into it to figure out what it means.

A gay man who does not engage in dangerous sexual behavior (multiple partners, no protection, etc) has the same or better life expectancy as a straight man.

Men like sex. A lot. There is probably no possible way to eliminate some subset of men, gay or straight, who will engage in dangerous sex as often as possible. It is human nature.

And honestly this is another red herring - a divisive side bar meant to derail the conversation from the key point: it's wrong to deny rights to people because you think the way they have sex is icky.

You need to understand statistics better. If I get time later I'll post some.

My point is that being gay does not mean you are required to behave dangerously. Nearly all violent crimes are committed by men...does that mean you would deny marriage rights to all men? Of course not. Because not all men commit violent crimes.

Some gay men have unprotected sex. So do some straight men.

So?

Gee never had to struggle.... so no decision was required was it.. you were hetero... you did not have to decide it was innate.... thank you for proving our point.

Here is the thing... it is not the "lifestyle" that shortens the life ... i t is the fact that
A) People who live alone, do not marry or find a long term partner live a shorter life... fact.. doesnt matter if you are homo or hetero.
B) Homo. are under constant ridicule which causes stress which shortens life...
There are many many other reasons for homo to have a shorter life... but what does that matter?... Shouldnt they enjoy equal rights as long as they live..... or is that only reservered for who you like

Those are good points. Statistically, married people live longer. Probably due to the support from their partner.

I don't know the current stats on gays and HIV/AIDS but I know that in San Francisco the rate of HIV is down tremendously among everyone. And better treatments are reducing mortality pretty dramatically too.

I have read that new cases of HIV in the gay community at large (usa) has declined over recent years... It is still a threat.. but decline is there

Plus did you read about the new preventative pill..... It will lessen the chance of transmittal

www.cbsnews.com/.../truvada-approved-by-fda-a...

Gee what will the homophobes complain about now....

Gotta love science! Saving lives faster than the Avengers.

They will complain about gays EXISTING. They prefer clean little worlds where everything is black and white. The fuzzyness of reality messes with their heads.

FOR ANYONE READING THIS THREAD, TAKE A LOOK AT THE POST NUMBERS.

The gay side will "report abuse" on any post that they can't contend with and then come back on-line like they're winning the arguement.

I don't guess you can expect to have an honest debate with people that are so morally corrupt.

Don,t mind Yiago he is just bigoted against everyone who displays morality. Yiago believes he is the great law giver and should define what morality is for all. If you disagree he will self righteously name call, cuss and dismiss common sense. He often uses the word logic but has an inability apply it in any way contrary to what he has been taught. Yiago will always deny both fact and evidence that departs from his indoctrination. He often will spell the word against "agin" over and over out of ignorance I suppose.

Just think of all the death already associated with this terrible disease. Not a good thing, morality will save lives much quicker then the avengers. Employ the word of God and common walking around sense many lives would have been saved already.

No big o says: "Homo. are under constant ridicule which causes stress which shortens life..." Jrer says Oh please, this media, political and educational forces through indoctrination and reverse discrimination. They falling all over themselves to give special rights and treatment to the gay community while employing discrimination on all that oppose or stand for morality. I have told you people a dozen times if I have said it once. They could care less about your petty perversions. Freedom is why you have had the opportunity to openly practice them. The end game is to trample the constitution, wring it from the hands of we the people and institute a totalitarian government that will crush homosexual freedoms and those that the moral also enjoy. Did you not read how homosexuals are treated under communism, is that what you want? That is what you will get if you allow the constitution to fall. Hate crime, hate speech laws have been and are being used to trample the constitutional freedoms of ALL Americans. Free speech, Freedom of religion and equal protection under the law are three spelled out constitutional freedoms that have already been abused under the guise of gay rights. I know no big O says freedom of speech has never been absolute. This is not screaming fire in a crowded theater, get real. I have posted examples of these miscarriages of the constitution in this thread before. The homosexual lifestyle is and has been much less conducive to a life expectancy and is still the fact. Excuses do not change fact.

This is your level of discourse? At least when I call someone a homophobe it is actually true.

Yes, think about all the suffering caused by this terrible disease. It caught the world off guard and put the brakes on the excess of the 70s. It's still tearing Africa apart.

Thankfully we're making great strides in prevention and treatment.

And so was every word of that statement. There is no such thing as a homophobe. Just name calling those who believe in morality and the constitution and therefore disagree with you.

Is that the yard stick you want to use?... if so you would have to agree that no infertile couples could marry, no baby via intercourse for them. No post menopausal woman could marry for the same reason....

Now while you ponder that... see if you can show us a law or anything that states a prerequisite for getting married is procreation. That you must agree to spit out a child within a certain period of time to get married....

How? Do you just make blanket statements or is there some facts you can show us? That would be like me saying all religious people are backward thinking, uneducated idiots. How does gay marriage harm society/freedom? This should be entertaining.

You know Jrer I am sure I heard this same song and dance before from the suppose right concerning other issues....now what was it again! Oh yeah! We heard this from them when slaves were freed, women were given rights, and inter-racial marriage bans were over turned. This is just the next step in truly having liberty and justice for all!
