Marriage is not religious and not about having kids. It's no one's place to say you can't spend your life with someone and get a tax refund for it.

Marriage is marriage --- when a man loves a woman and a woman loves a man --- they can have kids.

Gay marriage is a perversion of real marriage. It has become popularized by the media and hollywood.

I would never say anything bad about a gay couple, but I just cannot support gay marriage. sorry

So and infertile couple is not married because they can not have kids... if we go by your logic.

Would you say it is right to deny equal rights and legal coverage to any u.s. citizen?...

Logic? What does infertile have to do with anything?

You should know what they were talking about. Civil unions is good enough for gays/lesbians. Why should they force the rest of us to pretend that they are married?

What does infertile have to do with anything....quite alot.
Joey said "Marriage is marriage --- when a man loves a woman and a woman loves a man --- they can have kids."... Basically saying marriage is about having kids... natural progression which homo. can not do. Well infertile couples can not do that either... so in Joeys eyes they should not allowed to marry.

"Civil unions is good enough for gays/lesbians. Why should they force the rest of us to pretend that they are married?"

Would it be good enough for you.... Knowing that your c/u was good only for your state. That if you moved to a different state three things could happen
A) best case they acknowledge your c.u. with all rights you had in previous state.
B) they acknowledge it but only under their terms
or
C)(most likely scenario) they do not acknowledge your c.u. and you have no rights in that state.
Would it be good enough for you knowing that because you had a c.u. you get no federal benefits of being married?... If you are a fed employee, you c.u. spouse will not get death benifits or retirement benifits if you die. No federal tax benifits,...the list goes on and on.

Do you really believe that c.u. is equal.... would you settle for it... why should they.

The question isn't why should they force... but why should you deny them equal rights that other american citizens get.....

Civil unions is good enough. Why are there so many gay couples now?
Everybody used to agree that they were queers and needed psychiatrists. It has been sold to young people that they are gay.
Sooner or later it will pass from being popular. Why create some new laws to protect them legally when in a few decades they will no longer be into that lifestyle?

A) "Civil unions is good enough. Why are there so many gay couples now?"
You do realize that C.U. are totally different legally speaking than marriage. You do realize that C.U.'s do not offer all the rights and privileges of marriage. You do realize that a C.U. is not transportable to every state in the union.... yet it is good enough?.... really.... then you get a c.u. and see if being a second class citizen is good enough for you. As far as "why are there so many gay couples now" There are no more than what there use to be. Difference is they no longer have a need to hide in shame.

B):Everybody used to agree that they were queers and needed psychiatrists"
Everybody use to agree that depression was not a disease, you would go blind if you.... to much, woman should stay out of the ocean during that time of the month.... Funny how with knowledge things change.....

C)" It has been sold to young people that they are gay.
Sooner or later it will pass from being popular. Why create some new laws to protect them legally when in a few decades they will no longer be into that lifestyle?"

Wow where to begin here....
how can it be sold to young people they are gay?... Being gay is not a choice. Unless you can tell me the exact time you sat down looked at the facts weighed the pros and cons and THEN made a conscious decision to be hetero.....

You do realize that being gay is not a new thing.... that the term homosexual dates back to late 1800's and even before that there were gay individuals.... so as far as "it becoming unpopular"... it already is . There will always be bigots out there to make it seem unpopular. Luckily there will be rational people to realize that there is no more good or bad about being homo than there is about being hetero.

Why make new laws.....
Here is the thing. When MLK started the on equal rights for blacks, it was something that would could and never will be stopped. People realized the need. Now it is the homosexuals turn. It will not now or ever go back to the days of being in the closet. Why change laws?... maybe.. just maybe because they are U.S. citizens and deserve to enjoy the same rights, privileges and legal coverage as all u.s. citizens.

Now tell us.. why should a couple together for 15 years, happen to be a ssc enjoy less rights and legal coverage than a couple married 15 minutes

Why so much writing?

Do you really think all of these gay people would have considered themselves gay if they had more self esteem?

When did you "choose" to be hetero?..... Not whendid you start to notice janes new set of sweater puppies and how it made your willy hard. But when did you sit down, look at the options look at the pros and cons and then decide to be hetero....

Only people with low self esteem is those who need to build themselves up by denying rights to others.... don't know who I am refering to... look in the mirror

No marriage is a legal binding contract. Two parties agree to split everything they have the good the bad yada yada... The church has nothing to do with it. If it did then marriages would be required to be done by the clergy. As is the ceremony, which in all rights is just that.. a ceremony because once the wedding license is signed you are technically married, can be be done by a captain of a ship (off shore a certain distance, a judge, or (in some states) a justice of the piece.

I find it funny, I never brought sex into the conversation.. yet you, as people on your side tend to do, brought it up.

Now tell me why you believe that two people together for 15 years and happen to be a ssc, should enjoy less rights and legal coverage than a a couple married for 15 minutes

So, you can make marriage into anything you want to make it into.
Go ahead be my guest, but don't expect me to approve or support or even pretend that it is normal to have same gender marriages. It was not considered normal before people began using drugs all across our land.

Gee, must have missed that day in Civics class where they taught that equal rights for U.S. citizens must be approved and supported by all other citizens...... who knew.....

We get that you dont support ssm..... Funny thing is (well more predictable than funny) that you neglected to answer my simple question I posed in my response
"Now tell me why you believe that two people together for 15 years and happen to be a ssc, should enjoy less rights and legal coverage than a a couple married for 15 minutes"

I think we all know why you chose not to answer it.....

Who is we? You know that you have a minority point of view on this topic ---- most people oppose gay marriage/

Look at the results of this poll for example - look at ballot results from around the country when it has been on the ballot ---

Are you full of BS or What?

The bible also doesn't have the book of Lilith which is an ancient text of Adam's first lover. Also if you are any kind of protestant the Old testament is the old law. Genesis says nothing about homosexuality so if your bring up the bible use a verse that does. And last, this country has the freedom of religion so to use the beliefs of one's religion to debate weather a law should be or not is ridiculous

Benny homosexuality has nothing to do with self esteem. It isn't something you consider yourself either. You are or you are't that's all there is to it. Someone doesn't sit and choose to be attracted to people of the same sex. I'm sure you don't choose the people your attracted to. You just are and that is how it is. I understand your ignorance about all of this I was raised in a super southern baptist setting and use to be a complete homophobe until i started having feelings for other guys. I hated myself for a long time because I thought I was gonna go to hell. Now I understand that it is completely natural and normal. In any case all american citizen's should have equal rights when it comes to any issue no matter sex, gender, race, national origin, or sexual orientation. We are all human. Why can't we all be allowed to be happy.
