Gay Marriage Debate - Russell Springs, KY

For believers, it is obvious why so many prayers are answered. In the Bible, Jesus promises many times that he will answer our prayers. For example, in Matthew 7:7 Jesus says:
Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
Ask and you will receive. What could be simpler than that?
In Matthew 17:20 Jesus reiterates that same message:
For truly, I say to you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain,'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.
Since a mustard seed is a tiny inanimate object about the size of a grain of salt, it is easy to imagine that the faith of a mustard seed is fairly small. So, paraphrasing, what Jesus is saying is that if you have the tiniest bit of faith, you can move mountains.
Jesus says something similar in Matthew 21:21:
I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain,'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.
The message is reiterated Mark 11:24:
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
In John chapter 14, verses 12 through 14, Jesus tells all of us just how easy prayer can be:
"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I go to the Father. Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son; if you ask anything in my name, I will do it.
In Matthew 18:19 Jesus says it again:
Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
So, Jesus is actually in our midst and God answers our prayers...unless you're missing a limb, right?

there is a man (can't remember his name) he is well known, a young man, born without ANY arms or legs... from austrailla i think
he travels the world and gives talks.
you don't think he spent many a night saying'WHY GOD?'
then He decided to 'seek God' and trust God.
and God revealed to this man with no arms or legs, that his life was more valuable and useful without limbs than with limbs.
how so you ask?
God is using this man to show the world that the same God on the mountain is the same God in the valley.
God is using this man to show the world what real faith is.
faith is the SUBSTANCE of things hoped for and the evidence of things not 'YET' seen.
God is using this man to do a MIGHTY work to further the kingdom of God.
do you know how many people (like yourself) whine and bellyache and complain all the time when they DO HAVE their limbs and abilities....they do NOTHING with there life but complain and wallow in self pity .... and here you have a man who has learned what it means to HUMBLY live with limitations and cope, get by, survive and do as much for himself as someone with limbs.
he can feed and dress himself with his 'stubs'....
and he has overcome obstacles you and i would faulter under.
and he puts people like yourself TO SHAME.
God has saved that mans soul and promised him an eternal life and blessings you can't comprehend.
he has a smile on his face and is happy in the Lord in spite of his inflictions.
THATS the real testimony of God's power thru a sustaining faith.

I'm sure you're aware that there is a little place known as New Orleans. They have this special event called "Mardi Gras" every year where HETEROSEXUAL people parade down the street naked, shouting obscenities, and doing many other immoral acts. Those kinds of acts are not limited to the gay community. Nor is that kind of behavior something that every gay person participates in. They wouldn't fight so hard to be able to marry if they weren't interested in settling down and having loving, monogamous relationships, just like hetero couple. And straight people commit plenty of "immoral" acts in their own bedrooms. If they were prevented by law to do what they wanted to do in the privacy of their own homes or be able to marry whomever they want, they would be doing protests and campaigning for their rights, as well. Fortunately for us straight people, we don't have to do all of that work/fighting.

I'm glad you brought this up because it's not appropriate to bring up a CIVIL RIGHTS issue for a vote. I cannot express how completely wrong it is to even offer a RIGHTS issue up as a public vote. Why will people not understand that they are responsible for themselves and have no right to control what other people do with their lives? As I've said before, you have oodles of rights to express your disagreement based on religious beliefs but those beliefs are only responsible for what YOU do with YOUR life. They are not the beliefs of others. People "take it to the streets" because they will never receive equal rights unless they express how much they want them. Nothing changes unless change is asked for.

And who's is surrounding churches demanding anyone to abandon the scriptures? I have never heard of any gay person specifically going to a church and demanding that the congregation abandon their beliefs. Gay people don't care if you accept them, they just want equal rights. They will continue to be gay, even if they aren't accepted by churches or they don't get marriage equality but they will never expect churches to change.
