Gay Marriage Debate - Portland, OR

Gays should have equal rights in all ways. Currently they are denied many basic civil rights, yet have to pay the same taxes as everyone else, contribute to society as others must, and make their own way. Whom they love is no one else's business. My marriage will not change yours.

I can definitely be judgmental, but in this case, I really don't understand why others peoples bedroom habits, partnerships and marriages should bother me one bit. I wish the gays and leboz the best of luck and they deserve to be equal.

Civil rights weren't decided by the popular vote of bigoted whites. The civil rights of gays shouldn't be a matter of the popular votes of homophobes. There is no valid reason to oppose letting people chose the partner they love.

Let's vote on slavery! See if it gets the required 2/3 majority.

People are people.... who cares who you love.

Again, I propose the "problem" is using the religiously entrenched term "marriage". I support my gay friends in this, and greatly respect my close friends observation that unless the word "marriage" is used it will not mean as much. However, I think that "marriage" does not mean something other than man/woman unity. Gay marriage is man/man, woman/woman, it needs its own special term like "unity" or just call it a gay marriage as we have called it for a long time.

I support two human beings rights to become one. Love trumps all.

Same sex couples can't reproduce. What good are they? If everyone was gay, no humans would be here. If you can't reproduce, you go extinct. You can't fool Mother Nature. Marriage? What a joke.

You are hereby ordered NOT to have intercourse with your spouse due to being post child rearing age. You are an embarrassment to Mother Nature and are accused of Peeping into other peoples bedrooms. You are "no good" to raise your current offspring, therefore they will become wards of the State in order to NOT become obsessed with other peoples sex lives the way you have done. I am all for Gay marriages. We all have to accept that their are three genders. Males Females and Gays. It's ok. I don't know why their is a problem with them having a married life right along with the rest of us. Being Gay is not a choice. You don't just wake up one morning and decide you are gay.

Honestly? There is absolutely NO reason for homosexuals not to have the right to get married. Marriage is just a name--who cares whether its man/man or man/woman or woman/woman? If you have a problem with it, then don't get married to someone of the same sex. But you can't make that decision for someone else.

I've been arguing with people from Kentucky and Medford that think their superiority complex is a good enough reason to base laws.

Everyone should have equal rights. No one has the right to deprive others of basic rights because they don't approve of who they are, who they love, or anything else about them that is none of their business.

gays are immoral they have no souls, im not religious because god is just a bunch of bull, but seriously they cant reproduce which is the meaning of life and is the reason for a beings existence, so if they cannot carry on the simple task of reproducing and carrying on the species they have no right to live.

because its everyones right to get married to whomsoever they choose.

Why would anyone want to be with one when you can be with whoever you can.

i think anyone should be able to love whoever they want

I believe in gay marriage. Gays should have every right to be as miserable as the rest of us heterosexuals!

im not condemning anyone, im simply saying that they cannot fulfill the most basic need which is to reproduce, there's a reason you don't see gays in the wild, the species couldn't flourish, and a culture that starts accepting gays and encouraging it breeds more gays, back in the 50s, there were hardly any gays and if they were gay the put on the fausad of being a heterosexual. And now we have all these non gays trying to be gay because it helps them fit in, well that's a bunch of garbage and shouldn't be happening.
