I don't support same sex marriage per se because marriage is defined as the holy matrimony of a man and a woman. In a religious context, no a man and a man or woman and a woman should not be joined in holy matrimony because these religions are against it. And why would anyone who feels like something that means so much to them look to the approval of a religion or church to tell them what they can do. I am not gay or against gay people. If I get married it would not be a religious wedding simply because we do not believe in god. My girlfriend and myself have been together 10 years and have two children, and without religion we have love and morals and everyone is fine. To the gay people: why look to church to be looked at as equal. Fuck being equal make your own way. If you love someone, love someone. In the bible there's Sadam and Gomorah. That doesn't mean shit. If you're a good person your a good person. But yes in some way gay couples should have all the rights of a married straight couple, just not be united in a religious sense. Marriage now days shouldn't be about religious shit anyways.

Marriage is not just a piece of paper. It is the union of a man and a woman. If they are allowed to marry this would destroy the meaning and sanctity of what marriage is. They can go ahead and get a civil union.

They do have the same rights as hetero people. I had the right to marry my wife, and any other man has the right to marry a woman. That is what marriage is. The union between 1 man and 1 woman. We all have the right to get married.

I have a mother who is gay has a partner and has for about 10 years. I am still close to my mom, however I still do believe that it is not natural. To have gay marriage would mean that the government supports the off balance off the world and would be closer to complete chaos

In one sense, Marriage in this day and age is a piece of paper. It can be annulled or end in Divorce. Til death do you part should be stricken from the ceremony, as it no longer has any meaning. Marriage can: reduce what you pay in taxes; allow you to visit your loved one in Intensive care and Emergency rooms; give your spouse better insurance rates; bring homosexuals one step closer to heterosexuals rights.
I myself do not see myself ever marrying my boyfriend. He is everything to me and I love him with all my heart. I wont marry him unless I know 100% that we are able to remain married, and not divorce like the majority of married people in America. I am one of those gay guys that likes to go on dates, hold hands and am not ashamed to let my love for him show WHERE EVER I am. He is my world and I am his, but he IS afraid of people hurting him for his belief. He would not hold my hand or give me a peck on the lips at a TWINS game.
Remember also that back in the day, people could not move in with each other without being accused of immoral practice. Landlords and property owners could refuse tenancy for non-married men and women. Women were to be barefoot and pregnant while the men went out and worked. The women back then had a right to be barefoot and pregnant, if they chose to work they could, at a lesser pay than a man supporting his family.
A very high number of Gay men and Gay women want to be able to unite under the presence of God, their friends and family. Civil unions have given many a way to create that union as a secondary option, as the first option was denied. The only thing to fear about gay marriages is that if it ever does come to be, the odds are we will STAY married and lower the rates of divorces in America.

Because who does it hurt? Really? My life won't be any different if gay marriage is legal than if it isn't, so I see no reason to oppose them if they want it.

Let's extend the logic, shall we?
This is a given: We know that every woman has a right to marry the man of her choice. Every man has the right to marry the woman of their choice.
This is another given: Men and women are supposed to be equal in rights.
So the logical conclusion would be that all men should be free to marry the woman OR man of their choice, and all women should be free to marry the man OR woman of their choice.

Please explain why they should be prevented from doing so.

Your argument seems to boil down to "It hasn't been done that way before". That's no reason not to change it if there is a reason to. Laws change with the times. There are people asking for this to be legal. Why shouldn't it be? What, exactly, is the harm involved in gay marriage that would provide a valid justification for denying these people what they want?

Daily Horoscope for May 24

Capricorn

If you need to get someone organized, this is the day to do it. You'll sort things out without sounding bossy or patronizing, and you'll also get co-operation instead of resistance. It's a good day for having a serious chat with a child, perhaps because you need to explain something and want to make sure you do it properly, in a way that doesn't create confusion or fear.
