I am gay - and would like the same rights afforded others who are in long-term relationships - the right to be with my loved one in the hospital, to inherit from her or leave property to her with the same tax benefits afforded to married couples, Social Security benefits, tax filing benefits, and the list goes on. We've been together over 18 years, and she is the love of my life. We'll be together whether we can ever get married or not - but we would get married in a heartbeat if we could.

Marriage is a contract between people to say they are commited. If "under god" is ommited by seperation of church state, why not "between 1 man and 1 woman", wait isn't it the mormans that have 1 man MANY women? thats OK?

I don't care if you are gay or not but don't you think it is infringing on heterosexuals rights by changing their beliefs? Can two men conceive a child or two women? No!!!!!Does that tell you the thought process of making humans was a man and a woman. I have gay friends and I love them but they still cannot create a child. Marriage is between a man and a woman.

being married does not mean that you are going to have children. there are so many children that are needed to be adopted by "loving" parents no matter what sex the parents are!!!!!

Just b/c you are heterosexual doesnt mean you can have kids either it just means you have the equipment on hand and thats just being real(alot of people suffer from infertility where no matter what they do they cant have kids)..being gay doesnt make you are less of a man nor less of a woman, there are plenty of people who weren't married and made plenty babies does that make it better b/c their straight NO!!!!! How it's infringing on heterosexuals life?, sorry missed that one, how does what someone decides to do with their life change your belief? If you sat next to a atheist who by the way dont believe in God but yet have the right to marry(now isnt that ironic) would sitting by them change your beliefs of has it b/c alot of people who dont believe in God has had the privilege of being married now tell me in what way since these actions have taken place change your belief in God.....Didn't think SO.

Gay marriage is a legal issue and nothing religious about it. Older couples who marry can't create children either, so what does having children have to do with marriage? Marriage is a state of love netween two individuals, nothing more.

God made man and woman period thats not the argument, the personal decision of that man or that woman on who they decide to love or spend their life with is not yours nor does it affect you....i'm starting to think that people talk just to hear themselves....as a matter of fact give me another point other than the bible, once again judgment day is not based on how you feel about the person, you have no heaven or hell to put anybody in...but if we must talk about the bible and bring religion in this.....alot of people maybe even including you should have been stoned to death hence adultery(in the bible), divorce(was not in the bible and only by death of your husband or wife, were you to marry again)...or what about marrying a relative(in the bible but illegal)....multiple wives(in the bible but illegal)...if we are to mimic the bible what happened to these things. come on people yall got to come with something better.

Why not? Each party is a human being and every human has the right to marry who they want. As long as it is another human being.

whats so wrong with gays getting married? i mean honestly ask yourself how in the hell does it change the way you live if 2 guys get legally bonded? will the sky fall? will a giant flood come? will gays being married end the world?

i mean seriously people we have more things to worry about than 2 men or 2 women getting jiggy in their own bedroom. why dont we worry about the crime in this city, protecting children from predators, and our corrupt ass gov't bringing this place to the ground?

oh i forgot, gay people are much worse than all that right? for all you people who oppose gay marriage you are honestly quite stupid. im not gay by any means so dont even go there, but im just not that dense to actually think that gays tying the knot is gonna change my damned life.

The thing about marriage that I don't understand is, if it is so great, what makes people get divorced at the drop of a hat these days? Marriage should be done once and you work to make the relationship work, not just jump from one holy relationship to another. I don't think God meant for folks straight or gay to just do it over and over again. Seems like divorce should be illegal and I do think it's a sin.

If gay marriage is allowed, who can say that we aren't opening the door to allowing other types of marriage: 1 man + multiple women, 1 woman + multiple men, multiple men +multiple women, relatives marrying each other. I read people writing that they just want people to be happy. But where will this end? It's a slippery slope.

I know gay couples who've lived together as long as my husband and I have. They deserve the same rights and respect.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Sagittarius

You're feeling ultra optimistic today, which is great for summoning up the necessary energy to do what has to be done. But don't let it go to your head and convince you that you're capable of performing miracles. If you aren't behaving in this way you'll have to cope with someone who has a swollen head and thinks they're the cat's whiskers.
