You talking like that about us normal people and our opinions makes YOU a bigot as well.

Let me set some things straight, as a gay American, if I may. Gay marriage in New York has a religious clause in it, meaning: religious institutions do not have to marry same-sex couples in their church/temple/place of worship. That's fine. Do you know why you have to get a marriage license? Because it's recognized by the government, so you're afforded certain benefits.

These benefits DO NOT come from God, they come from your government. Such as, monetary benefits if your spouse were to die, parental rights if you choose to have children, the ability to make decisions if your spouse weren't able to in a medical emergency.

The last time I checked, when two straight people got married, it didn't effect me in the slightest, so I'm curious as to why when a same-sex couple gets married it effects the entire country?
