why should some people's marriages be legally recognized and not all? People fall in love and people who wish to be legally bound to the person they love should be able to do so. there is no equality otherwise. More stabilty in our society can be accomplished through suport of marriage instead of compartmentalizing it. Those who oppose same sex marriage oppose it for the very reasons interracial marriages were illegal prior to the '60s and '70s ..... such ideas were ridiculous, baseless and narrow minded then and they are equally so now

Marriage has been around longer than the current religions in fashion. It has nothing to do with it and shouldn't be held back because of it. It's a human right, not a heterosexual privilege.

Marriage is not a human right. It treats people as property, which is disgusting, and of course, that is how marriage originated, as a property contract. It is time we moved past all forms of chattel servitude and indenture. Marriage is one of these antiquated civil customs based on slavery and misogyny that have no place in a civilized society. If people want to tie themselves up in complicated contracts with others, they are free to do so. The government should not be encouraging it and profiting from it. Marriage for NOBODY. I oppose gay marriage because it is an unnecessary expansion of an evil franchise and the abuse of government power, not because I believe that gays deserve less rights than everyone else.

Because who cares!!! Let people live their lives the way they want to! This is not a time where you need to hide your feelings and individuality, it is the time to be free and be yourselves!! <3

If heterosexual marriages aren't put to a vote, then neither should homosexual marriages. Everyone has a human right to love anyone, regardless of sex or gender.

This issue amplifies the breakdown of the Morals of this Nation. Things were better when they all were in the closet. It's real sad when impressionable young minds have been swayed by this type of perversion. Some of the Beast's that have come out of this movement are really scary looking and most of them make me sick just to see their sick affection towards each other. They want to get married? Sure go ahead and take your perversion to another level.

And if you do answer, please do so from a realistic and non-emotional viewpoint. The reason why there are misconceptions like yours about gay people being different from normal people is because the ones who would be insane enough to break the number one rule of society by saying that they're gay are mostly the type of people who don’t mind breaking the rules of society. The gay people you constantly hear about are the types of people who will shove their differences in your face but really, these types of people are on both sides. Honestly, if you were gay would you tell anyone? It would ruin all of your relationships, make a lot of people uncomfortable around you, and you would be labeled as 'different' at best for the rest of your life. This is why 'normal' gay people usually don't come out of the closet and why we get the wrong impression that it somehow makes someone fundamentally different and unrelatable to us.

Obviously you are a product of our society and are missing the point with your over thought veiw of this de-moralizing movement.

We're all products of our society. How am I missing the point? Over thought? You can never think too much, you can only think too little. Are you telling me that you think too little? Is it because there are flaws in your argument and you don't want people to think too much or they will see them? I asked you before why you think it is 'demoralizing'(not really the right term but I am guessing you mean about morals and not morale) but you didn't answer. I listen to points from all sides. If you gave me points and not just your personal emotions on it I would listen and consider them.

Normative ethics might serve what I am trying to convey. Of course we are all products of society, good and bad. As far as you being (in my eyes) a product of society ,you can't seem to grasp what this type of behaviour can and will do to impressionable minds. As it would appear you have already been influenced by negative Normative ethics and there will be no changing that. Therefore you seem to think this acceptable. I don't. Whether this be my personal emotions speaking or not, thats irrellavent. I some how think emotions and thinking are tied together anyway.
