I may not agree but I choose to accept all people and not judge

Gay people are people, and should have every right as heterosexuals in EVERY respect. It is a civil rights issue. If you are worried about the sacrament of marriage, that went out the window looong ago, for example gold diggers, 50% divorce rate, and reality tv shows like the Bachelor and Bachelorette. A serious couple who love each other wanting to get married is preferable to a man and woman getting married for money, or fame.

To those who support gay marriage, you have to understand that these Christians believe it is their job to judge everyone and convert them. They do not comprehend the fundamental concept of living their lives, and letting others deal with theirs.
To those who oppose gay marriage, marriage is not solely a Christian invention. People have been getting married forever, on many different cultures, under many different gods, LONG LONG LONG LONG LONG before your religion forced its way into the world. In this country, marriage is a legal issue, not a moral one. If you take moral offense to gay marriage, so the F what. Do not be gay. You are allowed to not like it. But it is unjust for you to impose one morality upon an entire country, which is supposed to be based on FREEDOM, of religion, speech, life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness. Mind your own business, sit at home and feel satisfied with yourself, and let those who are different deal with their own consequences, whatever they may be. |

You need to go read the Constitution if you think this country is about seperation of church and state. What you do so long as you do not try to force it upon others and so long as it does on hurt others is your business. Think about it.... |

KEEP GOD OUT OF ALL LAWS AND DECISION MAKING! THIS SO CALLED GOD DOES NOT CONTROL OUR LIVES, NOR DOES HE CONTROL OUR UNIVERSE... SURPRISE SURPRISE WE DO!!!! ALSO BEING "GAY" DOES NOT MAKE YOU A BAD PERSON, BEING A BAD PERSON MAKES YOU A BAD PERSON! BELIEVE IN YOUR GOD IF YOU WANT BUT DONT CRAM HIM AND YOUR BELIEFS DOWN THE REST OF SOCIETIES THROATS!

My husband and I have been together for over 8-years and legally married (recognized by the state of Iowa) for the last 2-years (this past March 2012). We are looking at relocating to the great state of Florida, specifically the beautiful town of Lake City. I understand there are mixed reviews, feelings, and beliefs regarding same sex couples/marriages. Having said that, here is a thought to ponder...approximately 53% of all heterosexual marriages in the United States ends. The divorce rate among heterosexuals in the U.S. is the highest rate compared to every other country in the world. I don't judge anyone, not even those who judge me. Everyone is entitled to believe what they wish to believe. Any suggestions and/or helpful information from the local LGBTQ community regarding moving to and living in Lake City? Thanks!

Yes, that's right, nothing is destroying the so-called sanctity of marriage as much as straight people! Don't know why you're moving here, but take the comments here as evidence of the mentality you'll be facing. There are plenty of people who don't give a damn, as long as they are treated in kind, which is reasonable. Then there are those who have nothing but ignorant thoughts, who spew hatred to anyone 'sinning' in their eyes, while claiming to be a loving Christian. As far as I've seen there is only a small showing of a gay community here. Of course I'm certainly no expert, since I don't have friends around to know for sure. The crossroads of Interstates 75 and 10 will allow you quick access to either JAX or Gainesville though, which have to have more people out and about. Take care! |

There is this place you can check out: The Lions Den Pub and Eatery, though they open/close a lot I've heard. https://www.facebook.com/Thelionsdenpub |
Thank you for the information. I have no doubt, if we decide to make the move, it will be quite an adjustment going from Topeka, Kansas to Lake City, Florida for several reasons. We will be moving to the area due to my career taking us there, me as a state employee. The overall cost of living seems to be very reasonable. Also, I think we are looking forward to the warmer weather instead of the snow and ice in the winters. LOL! We have friends and family in the JAX area as well as Southern Florida. I think if we can live in Topeka, Fred Phelps backyard so-to-speak, for over 8-years...I'm hoping we can make a go of it in/around the Lake City area. Again, thanks for the information. It is greatly appreciated. Have a great, what's left of, Memorial weekend! |
