God created man and women and told them to go forth and mo multiply, not 2 men or 2 women. Seriously...do you match up 2 male dogs, or two female cats and wait to see if they will produce off spring...NO...duh....why are we different....just because we dont like the difficulties in life...I dont hate someone who is gay, but I cant agree with it.

This is not an argument against gay marriage, but an argument against gays. Furthermore, if sexual orientation is a "choice" as fundamentalists claim, then it follows that heterosexuality is a choice too. Why should one "choice" be favored over another? Incidentally, a person's religion is certainly a choice, yet we firmly protect that as a person's right. heterosexual couples need not swear an oath to reproduce in order to receive a marriage certificate. Heterosexual couples need not even be capable of reproducing to marry: no fertility tests are necessarily conducted for the granting of a marriage license. Elderly people who are incapable of bearing children get married all the time. Couples who simply don't want children can still marry. Marriages are not annulled by the state if a couple fails to produce children. Gays in fact can reproduce. They're not sterile. Many a lesbian has become pregnant through artificial insemination. Surrogate mothers aren't a new invention by any means. Nor is it a strictly homosexual procedure. That which occurs in nature is, by definition, natural.(Research shows that homosexual orientation exists in countless species other than human beings.) It can also be said that "if everyone were male, mankind would die out," but you don't see many people trying to argue that being male is unnatural. It's also a fact that not everyone is gay, so conjecture about what could or would happen if everyone were gay is both silly and pointless. This argument also makes the flawed assumption that marriage exists solely to facilitate sexual reproduction. The Bible is not the law of the land. Period. The First Amendment to the US Constitution, regardless of whether you like it, forbids entanglement of religion with the state. That is why it admonishes that Congress cannot make laws respecting the establishment of religion Laws must have a secular purpose. Laws may not cause excessive entanglement with religion. Clearly limiting marriage to heterosexuals for the sake of something the Bible says would breach the limitations laid out in the First Amendment. Incidentally, the Fourteenth Amendment explicitly applies the limitations set forth in the Constitution to the states. The bible condemns everything from eating shellfish to wearing clothing of blended fibers to touching a woman during her menstrual period to allowing women to speak at church. Most people preaching against homosexuality from the Bible just take a verse or two out of context, cherry picking what they need to justify their prejudices, while ignoring other "condemned" things entirely. In any case, a couple need not get married in a church at all, or be religious at all. A heterosexual atheist couple can make an appointment at any local courthouse.
Before you ridicule me for being unnatural, let me say I am a straight married woman who has never had a lesbian experience, nor do I want one. I just believe in the fundamental right of gays to marry. Sorry if you disagree.

The First Amendment forbids the creation of a state religion. It protects the free exercise of religion. It does not forbid citizens from voting according to their religious beliefs.

According to the bible it is wrong...and even the athiest knows that it goes against human nature. animals aren't born gay. you cannot reproduce if you are gay either.

Man and man cannot reproduce, neither can woman and woman. It goes against the laws of nature and it goes against the bible. Living in the "bible belt" I would think your eyes would be opened.

As an American, I believe that a gay person should be able to claim his or partner on taxes and insurance, decide who to list as next of kin for emergencies, and who gets his or her property when he or she dies. The Constitution and the Bill of Rights should apply to all citizens.

Living in the "bible belt" I would think your eyes would be opened. So since elderly can't reproduce they should not get married and infertle couples should be banned as well. I already stated that reproduction is not a requirement of marriage no one has to have children to get married. Allowing gay people to marry won't hurt the people who are reproducing in absence of marriage either, the teens are populating the earth just fine.

The Constitution and the Bill of Rights should apply to all citizens. I agree. Marriage is a religious term by definition. If a church chooses not to preform a ceremony fine, I as a heterosexual can be turned down as well. However, my union to my husband was in absence of any religious officiant nor was it in a church. I had a large non-religious ceremony as a heterosexual couple that is legal and recognised in every state. In my opinion a gay couple should be afforded the same right to have the union recognised as mine is. Just my opinion. The argument against it is very rarely anything other than religion, if you take the religious argument away (which people should do since laws should never be made based on religion) there is no longer a reason against it.

If the gays "only need their love" then why are they pushing the marriage issue so badly? They can live their life as they wish, just not get married. It's been working for years...

We want to marry for the same reason you do. To commit and pledge ourselves to one another because we do love each other... does it matter whether your gay our not, no. If we are happy with our lifestyle what's it to others? I have been married to a man twice and have 5 children, I am now gay.... I found love so what if its with another woman, I'm happier than I have ever been.

In this shitty world, two people who find each other and want to live in a committed relationship should be able to do so and be given the same rights and protections of ant American citizen.
You Bible-Belters need to pull your head out of your ass and your nose out of other people's business and get on with your pathetic little lives.
There's a special plac in hell for judgmental assholes.
