America was founded on freedom of religion.
Christianity is not the only religion that includes marriage. It is not an intrinsically Christian practice.
Why are we letting religion interfere with the lives of people who may or may not practice it?
Why are Christians allowed to call the shots for everyone else, when most people who are hoping to get married are not religious?
The argument that Christians have against gay marriage is equivalent to "No. BECAUSE I SAY SO." to anyone who is not a Christian.

Would YOU be happy if a religion you did not belong to- say, Judaism or Islam- did not allow you to do something that you wanted to do?

Where do we draw the line? First gay marriage then 20 years later will underage marriage be next? What about marriage to your cousin? Then your pet... the whole argument that "we are in love" so it should be okay - is bogus.

It should be obvious why: Separation of state and church.

But mostly reason and common sense, really.

I support gay marriage! I don't like the fact that I have to go all the way to Iowa just to marry someone I love. I am a person too!

Denying people the right to get married based on orientation is as silly as denying a brunette man from marrying a redheaded woman. Every person should enjoy the same rights as any other person. Thinking any other way is simply fearful and ignorant. Rights are for everyone.

One cannot determine a crooked unless there is a straight line to go by. If the straight line is man to woman then the crooked line is man to man or woman to woman. Theses unions do not produce offspring naturally. Once a culture wanders off from the straight line then the crooked line can get worse as man and animal. Adults and children. Man and multiple wives etc.

No it's not. For one thing the brunette man and the red headed woman can produce offspring naturally. If every person should enjoy the same rights then are we to deny the rights of pedophiles to wed minors? What about the rights of the farmer to wed his horse? By your own standards,''thinking any other way is fearful and ignorant. Rights are for everyone.''

Nobody here is talking about religion here except you. Besides many non religious find same sex marriage repulsive. Don't impose your moral stupidity on everyone else.

Government shouldn't be involved in the marriage business, and people should be able to marry whoever they want.

Gays don't deserve marriage! They don't know what that means. And are the Biggest cheaters outside of housewives and college girls.

Its the fight over a legal status, not a definition...if a gay person wants to transfer their beneficiary to their partner or wants to add their partner to their insurance plan, is that really pushing a "gay" agenda? Isn't this more just about people being given the same legal rights? Doesn't the Constitution say ALL are created equal?
Shame on you people for denying the rights you will give to an illegal immigrant that you won't give to your fellow Citizens!
