Two athiets can go to the Justice of The Peace and have a civil marriage performed with NO MENTION OF GOD and be granted ALL the benefits of marriage. Over 150 federal benefits afforded married couples regardless of faith beliefs. This is why its called a civil marriage.

A gay couple can go to a Church for a religious marriage yet receive no civil benefits. Many mainstream Christian denominations support marriage equality and offer religious marriages yet don't have the right to offer civil marriage or it's benefits.

Marriage Equality is about allowing all couples to have equal protection and benefits in civil matters. It has nothing to do with one faith denomination beliefs over another.

Religion has no right to force their beliefs, including marriage, on anyone. Allowing gays to marry is not going to harm the traditional marriage one bit and if that is what some are telling you their lying. They should have the right without question. I'm born again and have been involved doing the Lord's work for many years. Jesus never forced his teachings on anyone.
