Marriage should be between a man and a woman. It is how God intended it to be.

Marriage is about love. Our country is founded on the ideal of freedom and the separation of church from state. Why should what the bible says dictate our countries laws about marriage?

Not everyone believes in "God". Why should, in my opinion, a fictional character dictate our laws?

Humans are more than the biological gender they were born with. If you take the religious stand point out of it, there really isn't much debate against it. Not everyone is religious and people should be a little bit more aware of the people living around them, and existing and feeling just as they exist and feel. It's absolutely disgusting that people could be so narrow minded and not be at least sensitive to the fact that other people believe differently.

Here's the thing, even if you don't agree with it as long as they are not hurting anyone else then do not deny anyone else the right to be happy. Don't like gay marriage? Then don't marry someone of the same sex as you. I don't like fucking tomatoes, but I'm not going to tell others they cant eat them.

God intended no one to divorce unless adultery was committed, yet divorce happens in over 50% of all marriages. Yet the divorced are not forbidden to remarry. Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount:31 "Furthermore it has been said, "Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.' 32But I say to you that whoever divorces his wife for any reason except sexual immorality causes her to commit adultery; and whoever marries a woman who is divorced commits adultery.
"Thou shall not commit adultery", is in the 10 commandments yet the Christians haven't tried to create laws to prevent adulterers from marrying in any state. Having sex outside of marriage, having children out of wedlock are also sins yet no laws have been forced on the public to prevent anyone from living together or having children outside of marriage.
Just because something is in a Holy Book doesn't mean it has gentle, sacred intentions. You have to remember who wrote the words, who translated the words and the times they were written. In biblical times if your daughter was raped she would be forced to marry her rapist and he would pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Deuteronomy 22:28-29
When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are. If she does not please the man who bought her, he may allow her to be bought back again. But he is not allowed to sell her to foreigners, since he is the one who broke the contract with her. And if the slave girl's owner arranges for her to marry his son, he may no longer treat her as a slave girl, but he must treat her as his daughter. If he himself marries her and then takes another wife, he may not reduce her food or clothing or fail to sleep with her as his wife. If he fails in any of these three ways, she may leave as a free woman without making any payment. Exodus 21:7-11
They attacked Midian just as the LORD had commanded Moses, and they killed all the men. All five of the Midianite kings Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba died in the battle. They also killed Balaam son of Beor with the sword. Then the Israelite army captured the Midianite women and children and seized their cattle and flocks and all their wealth as plunder. They burned all the towns and villages where the Midianites had lived. After they had gathered the plunder and captives, both people and animals, they brought them all to Moses and Eleazar the priest, and to the whole community of Israel, which was camped on the plains of Moab beside the Jordan River, across from Jericho.
Moses, Eleazar the priest, and all the leaders of the people went to meet them outside the camp. But Moses was furious with all the military commanders who had returned from the battle. "Why have you let all the women live?" he demanded. "These are the very ones who followed Balaam's advice and caused the people of Israel to rebel against the LORD at Mount Peor. They are the ones who caused the plague to strike the LORD's people. Now kill all the boys and all the women who have slept with a man. Only the young girls who are virgins may live; you may keep them for yourselves. Numbers 31:7-18

It's perversion, plain and simple.

It's a perversion of the biblical laws to allow divorce unless adultery has been committed or to allow a woman to wear pants or to live once she's had sex with a man she's not married too. It's a perversion of biblical laws to have a child outside of marriage yet no one is rushing to ban cohabiting straight couples.

Homosexuality exists in nature, always has, always will. People can be married outside of any religion. No religious ceremony is legally required. To deny gay couples the right to marry when straight couples can marry is clearly discrimination.

Churches will still be free to deny gay couples to marry in their churches. Nothing about legalizing gay marriage will take away a church's right to discriminate against others. This is why we have Separation of Church and State so women can't be forced by religious law to wear Burkas or marry the man that rapes them. Like in the good old holy days of Moses, when the taking of virginal child brides and polygamy was encouraged.
