Um, because people are people. That's why.

There aren't any reasonable arguments against it.

Everyone should be free to love. How sad is it that in 2012 this is even still an issue.

Just because people like the same sex, it doesn't make them any less than everyone else.

I believe that marriage should be based on love, not biological sex. It seems like such a simple concept, and that's why I'm so deeply saddened by the state of the issue in most of the world.

If you're not gay, it won't affect you.

People need to stop caring about other people so much. You love who you love and there is nothing anyone can do about it.

Marriage is a legal construct of which only one of the dozens of potential benefits are children (which you don't even need to be married to have! And some straight couples can't or choose not to!) There's no logical or legal reason against marriage equality.

An explanation shouldn't even be needed.

It shouldn't matter what other people do, only what you do. If you don't support gay marriage then don't get gay married and let other people do what they want.

bobwr wrote: I think the terminology is what puts people off-if they dropped this "gay marriage" theme and allowed "gay union" or "gay legal contracts" us traditionalists would find this far more palatable.I think this insistence on using "gay marriage"is deliberately antagonistic on the part of these couples. But the point of legalizing "gay marriage" is to equalize gays socially. Creating this "separate but equal" form of union won't work. Also married couples gain certain rights with the government so the only way to implement what you're saying is to take filing for marriage under the government and create something not religion based, like a civil union, that still has these rights. The churches could still marry people in a religious sense but it wouldn't have a governmental affect on anyone anymore.

I can't believe that people actually think that sexual preference should affect a person's rights.

You want to know why? Because everyone deserves to love whom their heart chooses. That's why.

Love is love, no matter what. It's like saying you wouldn't want someone to marry because their different races... What maters is on the inside, not what's on the outside.
