Everyone should have the opportunity to be happy/miserable. ;) Marriage was not ruined by homosexuals that wish for the same right to live their lives and enjoy benefits. Marriage was ruined when Divorce happened and the vows we all know by heart were forgotten...nobody wants to work anymore- if two people want to get married, even if it ends up not working out, they should be allowed.

If we are going to support gay marriages, something that is unnatural, sinfully, and spiritually wrong, then you have to support polygamy, a man being able to have as many wives as he wants!!

I am one of the lesbian couples that married in California and I believe this whole argument against gay and lesbian marriages is the production of bigoted, homophobic and sexually deprived individuals. Most of their arguments don't hold water at best and reveal deeply disturbing prejudices to twisted ideas up to and including bestiality (as if that was a valid contribution to the conversation in any way). The rights of a minority can not be decided by the majority. Judges overturning popular vote decisions is a balance of power.

So what is your legal argument against polygamy, polyandry, and adult incestuous marriages? Why can't the people decide by means of an elected legislature or popular vote what contracts and transactions are recognized by the government as legal? They have determined that ponzi schemes are illegal but people still buy into them knowing the risks. In some states gambling is illegal; in others it is not, same with prostitution. You can't legally drink until you are 21 despite being past the age of majority. It seems like the rights of the minority are determined by the majority all the time. What do you think makes this situation different? PS. I agree about the bestiality comments. No non-human can be in a contract, but don’t try to tell the crazy animal rights activists that. Why can't the people decide by means of an elected legislature or popoular vote what contracts and trasactions are recognized by the government as legal? No. Just... no no no. What does marrying someone you love hurt? Here is a list of things that will happen if gay marriage gets legalized nation-wide: Gays will get married. Yes, thats it! No third world ward, no outbreak of some deadly virus, and no, you wont be effected if you arent gay! Surprise, surprise!

Love is love. Men are just women with genitals and women are just men with vaginal areas.

Love is love; why does it matter what gender the love of my life is? Also, Khloe Kardashian does more damage to the institution of marriage than my gay friends.

I myself am lesbian and I know that I, and the rest of the queer community is just as capable of committed love and joint responsibility as straight people, which is what marriage ought to represent and protect. The church has nothing to do with marriage and neither does any other institution other than the government. And what government policies of civil unions and domestic partnerships are doing are enshrining injustice and inequality. They are a contemporary version of "Seperate but Equal" laws. Two consenting adults have the right to commit to one another fully and have that commitment honored and protected by the government regardless of their gender. THIS IS DISCRIMINATION AT IT"S MOST OBVIOUS. LETS END IT, and allow any two adults to marry.

Love is love. And frankly, the amount of people who can't see that makes me sick. And very sad.

Love is love. I believe couples who have the potential to live a long happy life together, and raise children in a loving household deserve more rights than half the couples in American that go to vegas, get drunk, and get married, and then divorce, BUT no. That's allowed. That doesn't tarnish the sanctity of marriage AT ALL. It's just ridiculous.
