NO! It should be up to the parents. It's ridiculous to apply such nonsense to the home/farm/ranch.

Next thing you know home chores like washing dishes or mopping the floor will be regulated by outsiders.

I am in favor of labor regulations concerning minor employees doing farm work.

Which is not the same as minors working on their family farm.

I grew up working on the family farm and my son started working on the same farm at 9. I am in a different career now but None of the farmers I know hire or let any other child other than family work the farm. The equipment is too expensive and there is too much that could go wrong to take the risk of having kids who were not brought up respecting the dangers
The government has no business getting involved. It is not like it used to be when kids quit school to work the farm. I bet if you ask any family farmer they want their kids to get a good education so they don't have to depend on weather and prices for their income

Lifelong Democrat who is not in favor of this. I grew up working on a family farm, it taught me the value of a dollar and the payoff of hard work. This is a true definition of govt overreacting.

It's not a conservative thought, it's a common sense one.

If a minor is working on a farm owned by his/her family then the family should regulate... period.

Hell, if a minor works in any business their family owns .. so long as it doesn't hurt school work!

The problem seems to be that farm families haven't been paying dues to union thugs for the privilege of earning a living on their own property.

If farm families would just support the communist regime, they wouldn't be facing this attack from the dept of labor.

Chicago politics at it again.

No, just because I don't agree with everything they do, doesn't mean I don't agree with anything they do. There have been Republican ideas I thought were good as well. But I'm not considered an independent by any means. I'm just open minded, stay informed and use common sense. Everybody has an idea, but not everybody's idea is good. Just because a dem has an idea, doesn't mean I'm going to automatically agree. Same goes with Republicans, I don't disagree with all of their ideas. I just agree with dems more.

As a Democrat I do believe there are government regulations And laws that should be reviewed and either Modified or done away with, places where spending should be cut, etc. As many of the laws and regulations put forth by each party are "reactionary" and the consequences are mostly unintended.

I'm just glad to see everyone agree on something. This is an example of effective governing.

So if you guys want to reply and call me names or whatever, go for it.

Emotional tension is in the air today, making it a fraught but exciting day. The fur could really fly between you and someone you fancy, especially if you aren't yet having a sexual relationship with them.
