If you believe that PARENTS have the right to direct the upbrining of their children go to: www.parentalrights.org and sign the petition. An actual ammendment to the constitution has been introduced to say that PARENTS have the right to decide what is best for the education and upbringing of their children. It's sad that we need it but it's time to get our rights in print!

How can teaching children to use violence against those smaller than them will teach the right lesson?
Do as I say or I will beat you and someday you will get to beat your children! Really, are these the standards you endorse? You have no right to use violence on your children. As a school teacher,
I watch my children very closely for signs of home abuse. If you beat your children, cowboy, I will send the police to your house. Perhaps you can explain to them your god-fearing rationality.
My advise, read a book on child-rearing and spare the rod. We have laws to protect children from assholes just like you! The police know how to treat child beaters.

Chores teach children responsibility.

Having loving, encouraging, tolerant parents is the best source of teaching responsibility.
Beating a child or wife is not the way to educate people about mistakes.We used to think that blacks should ride at the back of the bus and not drink from the same water fountains as whites. This was just 50 years ago. As a society we do not feel that way anymore. This is the same with spare the rod and spoil the child. This is a rediculous attitude that was used thousands of years ago before we found out how much it screwed up our kids for life sometimes. Teaching kids to use violence to get their way gives them lots of problems as teen agers and young adults. If you want a responsible kid who can work a job and raise a family show them a parent who is responsible and works a job and raises a family without beatings. Fear is not love.
