The government has no business telling people how to raise their children. The children learn things about everyday life, which is benefical to them in all aspects of life. It also helps the family make a living, which is also benefical to the whole family.

They are MY children and MY responsiblity, not the government. It is MY decision on how they are raised.

Silly Pike, do you really believe you are responsible for raising any child? We control the volume, we control the picture...

Your question mark indicates that you don't know what "farm chores" are. They are: feeding and watering the farm animals, helping in the garden, or [you don't know what this is] truck patch, hauling hay, and many other things that are connected to living on a farm. Kids get not only a hands on education, but also learns lots of things that are necessary in life. The child or children are given an animal to claim as their own and learns responsibility. There can be competition to see who can raise the best looking animals, or see which one can produce the most fruit, or vegetable with their own plant or animal. This can be fun for the kids as well as profitable for the family. As in any competion there should be prizes given for the best product. This absoutly beats sitting in the house playing games on X-box, or running the streets, or drag racing.

Chores should always be up to the parents and NOT the government. Chores teaches a child responsibility, to remember to do things and to follow through with working on something.

Guys this was nonsense. The things you are talking about cannot be regulated because there are not enough regulators available.

I am opposed to the bill but I have read it......

Did I say I agree with it? No I don't remember that. So it is not racist, it's the truth. Farmers DID use black people, that is a fact, but now they use children for their slave work (also a fact), children should be working on their education instead of someone else's dirty work. Children are not just some cheap labor, they are gifts from god and should be treated to a good education because they are the future, if you want work done then hire a servant instead of having a kid.

Kids were raised on the old plantation working with the slaves. They also took their studies in order to run the farms.

Kids have always worked the farm. It was fun and when dinner was pit on the table there was pride that they had put it there.

I was driving a farm truck back and forth to town at 14 to hall feed, get parts and drop stock. It was a ball for me...

At sixteen my brothers and sisters treated me like dad and deferred to my guidance and stood when I came into the room.

All my brothers and sisters had great carreers and all retired before they were sixty.

Look around.... How successful are the people you were raised by?

Do you even have any children Lisa? If so do you give them any chores to do around your house? Farm Chores are almost the same as house chores except that they are a little harder and not for the younger children so much as for the older ones. Chores of ANY kind teaches a child responsibility.

I believe that it is OKAY to have a child do chores, but as a child gets older he/she is going to do his/her own thing and that's their descision they have to make in life, they are individuals and I treat my children as people capable of making their own choices (that teaches them responsibly better than anything) rather than just making them an extension of my own agenda.

i agree with you lisa.I think if you have children you should work your butt off and give them everything they want and just let them lay around on their ass and get big fat and lazy just like you. you should have to feed them until they are at least 50 years old. you owe them that much, the only thing you should teach them is how to get on food stamps. then when they get so fat they cant move you should teach them how to get on welfare like you are. Then you can say you did a wonderful job raising your kids
