We are regulated to death - and besides, kids who have chores to do (and actually do them) tend to be more responsible and to appreciate that not everything in life will be handed to them.

I've never known anyone who worked their child into the ground on a farm and I know quite a few farmers. My daughter "helped" but it was more for her benefit than ours.

It's stunning how intrusive our 'government' is becoming. Lawmakers are so out of touch- if it wasn't so harmful to our future and our children's futures, it would be funny.

Since there are very few family farms any more , most are big corporate operations , then any work done on them should be paid. The day of a farm being 120 acres with a couple of cows, a few hogs and some chickens is ling gone. an operation with 5,000 acres and 10,000 head of cattle is not a family farm!

If I cannot do by my kid what I need to do, then take him and you raise him.
