It should be left up to the parents. Goverment needs to stay out of family life. Growing up on a farm and doing chores is no different than a kid in the suburbs having to take out the trash or rake the lawn. It builds a kid and teaches work ethic. If you regulate that, then what, they say a kid cant take trash to the curb, kids cant load the dishwasher, where does it stop?

ya, all we need is another law that makes kids unprepared to work.

i noticed a photo of deportees headed home to Guatemala. They all seemed to be Indios rather than mestizos. This is because they cannot easily be sneaked into the voting booths. These are the guys that pick our vegetables.

Bottom line is kids today are lazy and uninspired. i grew up on a farm, it didnt kill, and it made me a better person. I actually learned responsibility, took out a 2000 dollar loan from FHA when i was 14 to buy a cow ( my dad co-signed)I got paid for the milk and bought a 4 wheeler. Most farm kids love the life, and never look at it as a job.

I looked a little closer at this issue...
Children that work on their parents' farm were not to be affected.
They were specifically exempted.

However the legislation has already been dropped.

As originally conceived...
The rules didn't limit hours of work.
RATHER banned kids from working on 'dangerous' equipment.

This thread has caused me to search about 'ABUSE'.
Not in reference to the subject of this thread...
But in more general terms.

Here is an extremely distressing page.

FIVE children die EACH DAY... from abuse!
