It teaches children responsibility. Which, unfortunatly, most kids don't have a sense of anymore. I grew up on a farm and I'm glad that I did. It instilled hard work ethics, along with giving me a sense of pride for a job well done. Farmers work hard and earn everything they get. Most kids lately seem to have everything handed to them. Farm kids learn to work for what they want.
