Don`t trust ANY of them, Obama included.

Unless its the approach of absolute and total separation of the two, no thanks.

None of them recognize the Constitutional separation of church and state.

Faith and politics do not - and should not - mix.

I just want to say at this point that a person can be a Christian and be a Democrat at the same time. Some seem to believe otherwise. I consider myself living proof.

3/7/08 From God The Father - A Letter Given to Timothy, For All Those Who Have Ears to Hear
Thus says The Lord to the United States: Obama shall lead you. And by him shall My will and judgment against your nation be fulfilled, for all its forsaking of Me and My Israel... And so I have brought from among your enemy even one from Ishmael, to rule over you for a time and a season, foreordained, until that foretold is accomplished and the king of fierce countenance rules. Then, by that deception conceived of by your enemy and this transgressor, him being full of lofty and elevated words, lies and dark speeches sold as hope, will it return against him ten-fold of the same, by him called Perdition. Yet remember this: Nothing exists outside of Me, says The Lord, neither does anything continue outside My will; for even the evil of this present world is set within the confines of My will. For evil acts and brings forth of its own, yet is unaware that nothing is hidden before Me; neither has anything come to pass, nor will be, that I have not already beheld... And this, O arrogant and deceived generation, is why I said,“All was written and completed, even before the foundation of the world.” For I am God! THE GOD!... The God of Abraham, The God of Isaac, The God of Jacob!.... The God of all!... Even of all that is known and unknown, The Creator of all things... The Everlasting, who is from everlasting to everlasting... I AM. http://trumpetcallofgodonline.com/index.php5... |

I haven't had a tract handed to me in years~don't even get Mormons at the door anymore (I think they're skeered :D )~~had some pretty Jehovah's Witness ladies a few years back but in general don't see any doorknockers much anymore. Faith and Politics ~~show me what kind of person you are; don't tell me. |

That works as well as keeping politics out of religion.. |

I usually get handed tracts when I go to those street festivals they have in downtown Chambersburg and other Franklin County communities. Sometimes I get them tied to my front doorknob. I don't get Mormon's or JW's since I think I'm a little outside their sphere of influence, but a couple times in the last few years I've had children or senior citizens at more door to tell me about a new Baptist church or something. We need to move away from religion as a society - individuality, folks can do what they will. But we're starting to be surpassed in science, technology and medical innovation by more secular industrialized nations, and we're only hurting ourselves because of it. |
|
Freedom of religion includes the right to exercise that religion privately and publicly. We are the society we are because of the values we hold, for better or for worse. Separation of church and state was designed for the churches more than the state- to keep the government from dictating a religion and outlawing others.

How can you say that such a double standard exists? Keep government out of religion, but keep religion in government. I don't think so, I don't think that's what was intended one bit. What it means is the government will not tell you what religion to pursue, unlike England at the time that had a State mandated religion (the Anglican Church). How ironic is it that England, along with most of Europe, have moved toward a secularized society while the United States has delved into borderline religious fanaticism? We are by far the most religious industrialized nation, and it's why Europe - and even more secular societies, like Japan - are pulling ahead of us in education, science and technology. Yes, I agree with keeping the government from outlawing or dictating the religious will of the people. But most certainly also means to keep religious people from dictating or outlawing the government. Why is that so hard to understand? |

I think you may have misinterpreted the posters comment. Some folks dont want our God on the Gov't dirty money... Some folks don't want our God in the pledge to the Gov't Some folks don't want our God in your Socialist schools. On the other hand - yes - far too many folks of "faith" want to see the gov't validate their world view at every meeting. Folks of faith should welcome and protect the separation of Church and State. Otherwise...it's just not faith. |

I agree with you Tina, but this is what good_guy said:
"Separation of church and state was designed for the churches more than the state- to keep the government from dictating a religion and outlawing others." But it wasn't made "more" for one or the other, it's a two way street. And far too many people of faith want their views mandated by the government. Some want to endorse political candidates. But almost all want the government to keep out of its business. Maybe we could fix our economy by taxing churches? That way, they can continue to endorse the GOP every Sunday - which they do anyway - but at least the rest of us can benefit from it. |
