I do not see why it should not be lowered to 18. One can be drafted and asked to die for their country at 18 but not legally allowed to consume alcohol? It makes little sense. Besides, it did not matter that the legal drinking age was 21. I drank long before that. People will get booze if they want it, regardless of legality. Maybe if kids were exposed to alcohol and taught to drink responsibly by their parents at a younger age, there would not be such a problem in our country.

I remember 3.2 % beer you could buy at 18. We don't need any more young a drunks than we already have.

a lot of kids that are 18 are already drinking. Making it legal for them to purchase it instead of acquiring it another way will just make it safer. It might also reduce peer pressure to try drinking if the kid has already tried drinking.
