I'm in the army risking my ass and I'm only nineteen... I just want to go to the bar and enjoy a drink when home.

If you can vote, die for your.country, live and/or get married and live like.an adult, shouldn't anyone have the right to.drink alcohol. Stiffen the penalties for.young.dwi and dwi across the board for even first offense....cause first offend can still result in death, they should be given that right. Period. End of.story!

I 1000% agree u can vote fire a weapon kill a human in combat get married but u can't have a drink or have a champagne on your wedding day if you get married before 21.....that is totally absurd you fighting for our country can't have a beer after a hard day or buy one and take it home in the privacy of your home and enjoy....what hipocrits ....the best way is to stiffen penalties to stop dwi amongst that age group to deter them from drinking irresponsibly and allowing responsible people have their freedoms....isn't that what your r fighting for? Fredom?

but he canlay down his life to protect you by can't buy a beer? That's the principle of the whole thing.....just make first offense by under 21 like mandatory yr in jail maybe that would deter them more than taking away a patriot from his right to wear a military uniform but not able to buy a beer sounds stupid don't it?

The key to all of this is "CONTROL" and self discipline. The danger is OVER INDULGENCE!
These attributes must also be in place for anyone who drinks and risks that one too many that causes serious consequences.
I agree posts here are understood, but again, it is self control ALSO that is part of the issue of everyone who drinks.

to puke and dump your brains out can wait til 21. no one wants a drunk military and no one wants a drunk voter. cant always avoid that i know... but we can try to save a life by keeping the drinking age at 21.

AT 18 you still have things to learn about and drinking shouldn't be one of them, not before 21 when you can be legally responsible for your actions.
There were plenty of WW II and Vietnam Vets who felt the same way, but they had responsibility to others and being blotto was not going to help them defend anyone. Hang in there, 21 will come soon enough.
