kaflkajsf, are you one of the rich that sure dont want to pay higher taxes? The economy started hurting when the companies got paid to move their factories over seas. And,why should the elderly lose more, some cant make ends meet now. My,father always said the rich gets richer and the poor get poorer. Our elderly worked all their life and this is what our goverment and the rich thanks about them. The companies and the rich get tax breaks that should have never started. All the tax holes that the get should be stopped.

Regardless of income, if they paid in to Medicare, they are entitled to it after turning 65. Are you confusing this with Medicaid?

Who was it that benefitted when the financial sector was massively deregulated? The rich. Who was it that was helped the most by NAFTA? The rich? Who was hurt by this? The poor, always the poor. When times are good and the economy is booming, the rich corporatists get to post record profits and pay handsome salaries to their executives. When they are teetering on the brink of collapse, are they allowed to fail? No, they must be bailed out by us the poor hardworking taxpayer living paycheck to paycheck. When the economy is shit-side up, who has to make the most sacrifices? Well it's the poor of course, with cuts to all the entitlement programs. We can argue about the morality of entitlement programs all day. Programs like welfare and medicare and medicaid and social security etc. But what about the corporate entitlements? Tax breaks and lenient deals? Socialized losses and privatized gains? And to tax the rich would sink the economy further you say? I think the rich are doing a pretty damn good job of sinking this economy already.

you are correct most of the people that want taxes raised on the wealthy pay no federal taxes at all. Sure they pay in all year like everyone else but in April they get every penny back on their federal returns. It is a cold hard statistical fact. Because someone worked hard and took risks to build a business and became wealthy they should pay more than anyone else is ridiculous. It's the whole sharing of wealth phillosophy that has gotten this country into the shape it is in. Not the people who provide jobs. All of this entitlement shit is out of control. I would say that I am more for cutting Medicaid and leaving Medicare alone.

Well I didn't exactly say that I wanted higher taxes for anybody, just that the rich are screwing up this country's economy. And I don't even mean the rich individuals actually, when I say rich, it is mostly the corporations. It's the giant corporations that have all the money, that avoid paying for anything when they can because it affects bottom line. The corporations that ever lobby for laws that help them while hurting us. Lobbying for entitlements to our tax money, our subsidies, any tax loophole they can lobby to create or prevent from being closed. I guess I'm talking more about regulation than I am about taxes and paying their fair share but it is in some way related. If this was a country by and for the people still, we would not be having this discussion, but it is instead a country by and for the corporations.

It is a country of too many entitlements. Before long the people sitting on their butts drawing welfare and getting Medicaid will out number the people working.

all money recieved is put back into the economy. The poor buy food and pay bills..that is money that goes back into the economy.Even if it is foodstamps or welfare. It circulates.Remember all the bailouts for wall street?? That was no more than a big fat welfare check for millioniares. Who mooches off the taxpayers the most?? THE RICH!!! Please get the facts straight. This tea party crap is not patriotic at all. They act like spoiled brats and the Republican party needs to do better when it comes to parenting these brats. The GOP is ashamed of the tea party and it shows.

Let's see if the rich pay in 85% of the tax basis shouldn't then aren't they just using their own money? Let's look at the facts. Most people in Carlisle pay federal income tax from their checks. They then file taxes and receive all of the federal tax they paid in. Thus their tax contribution is 0. So it makes sense to me that it was not your money they got it was most likely theirs to begin with. So let's put it this way the food stamps and welfare you speak of are 85% funded by 5% of the population. Your argument is baseless. If you want to base it on your theory then everyone should pay 7% of their earnings in taxes and no refunds at all be given.

typical tea party crap. The big corperations outsource jobs. They don't create jobs for Americans. They are getting all the tax breaks. There is no middle class in America. Only on paper. Most so-called middle class Americans are only a couple of paychecks away from the welfare lines and the foodstamp office themselves. The rich like the blame to be on the poor.It takes the heat off of them. The poor have not been running this country, it has been the rich. Looks like they messed it up real good, doesnt it? Let them take away the checks and other programs for the needy..watch how fast crime will increase. There will be anarchy in the streets. If you are rich, then chances are you will have a rough life. Your money will be your own misery. People will not let their families starve. They will take what they need by any means necessary. It is human nature.

I love when corporatists use the "rich people create jobs" line. Where are the jobs from the Bush tax cuts that were supposedly going to trickle down? They're in India and China, mostly thanks to the president before Bush, Clinton and NAFTA. Every president since Roosevelt has done the same job, silently looting the people and handing it over to their rich benefactors. The president's job is merely to put a patriotic spin on his controllers' agenda at the time. Right now and since the 1930's we have seen nothing but the squeezing of the middle class and the ever-widening income gap between rich and poor. Just because he's young and black and seemed to be a liberal, we shouldn't have expected any different from Obama. He's a facist like the rest, he just makes it look sooo cool.

Any raise in the debt ceiling should be tied to a serious reduction in spending. Basic math. The rich cannot be an answer to America's problems nor are they the cause.

Wonder if someone really tracked down the welfare benefits "given" to benefactors. Be honest--you could find all sorts of exchanges. Drugs, liquor, sex, gambling. Do their children get any benefits? Free anything always invites corruption. Those WIC vouchers, study what they buy with them. There is no way the rest of the family are not going to benefit, those kids can't eat that much. These products are sold and traded. The kids might get some cheese. Yes,the government takes from people who work and gives to those who laugh at working people. Eventually, in the perfect world, the money goes back into the economy, but whose filthy hands had it before gas or food is bought. Only a liberal would approve of this arrangement. Free phones for emergencies, what about one woman with 30 cell phones. Cheats? What about a guy who gets benefits because he can't read? Yet you can hire him for work "if you pay cash". Government rock on, ladedadeda. As Judge Judy says"isn't it a wonderful country".

Gemini

Try as you might, you won't be able to convince a certain person to see things from your point of view. This character is far too busy letting you know that they're an individual in their own right and they won't be tied down by you. The more you push, the more they'll rebel, so try not to incite further displays of outrageousness.
