No real explantion necessary. Common sense. Tax the rich more, then they won't have the money to hire, the government will have the money. Doesn't anybody get it?

Here are some podcasts that will open your mind to what is really going on.

These hosts bash Democrats and Republicans equally. Any talk show that takes sides w Repubs or Dems is designed to distract us from the real issues. That is what you get with commercial mainstream media.

For Real World Events, Military Conflicts and Economy (They may appear to be religious themed but they don't really focus on it, athiests welcome):

For Stock Market manipulation, Gov Corruption, Economy and tearing FOX and MSNBC up:

For everything else including possiblilty our leaders may be manipulated by offworld intelligence (this would make sense given the current state of the world):

Because they have the most to lose; because given the state of the economy they are in a position to pay more; because by modern historical standards rates are very low; because as were are repeatedly told, they are the job creators. As job creators they are likely pay a lower wage requiring workers to obtain health care from publicly funded sources and/or hire illegals. This group is also in a position to influence elected officials and derive favors; they are in a position to obtain professional assistance be it financial or legal to help them reduce their tax burden.

I suggest you go back and look at the marginal tax rates during WWII, Korean and Vietnam wars. In 1944 the highest rate was 94% and the lowest was 23%. Compare that to today: 35% and 10%. Through the 1960s, 1970s until the early 1980s the top rate was 70%.

Even with those high rates jobs were still created.

* I don't support a return to these high rates, I'm just pointing out the facts.

The government is a joke and spends itself into debt. Perhaps not funding all the fringe areas and cutting the pork out of the budget (if they ever can find themselves setting a budget)would free up adequate funding. There is plenty of revenue to fund the government coming in now if it were wisely spent, and not on unnecessary projects. Cut out our involvement and payments to the UN and quit giving foreign aid to everyone who asks for it. The government and it's budget makers are incompetent and pure political hacks who want to buy votes wherever they can at taxpayers expense. If it were not for someone paying for their election expenses they would probably not be able to hold a normal job and these are the quacks which we are forced to have govern us.

The current code is far to progressive, tax rates should be flattened. The government needs to CUT spending.

It's time to take the tax burden off the backs of the dwindling middle class, the bush and regan tax cuts for the wealthiest have produced zero jobs. Time for them to pay the piper like everyone else.

One of two things have to happen, a flat rate tax law is passed or the more you make the more you pay in taxes.

In fact a third thing must happen, the Federal, State, County and City governments MUST start learning to balance their check books and cut unnecessary wasteful spending.

There are way to many jobs that are nothing more than payback positions for big donors, family and friends.

Cut the fat.

Why not? Historically, tax rates are very low especially for the wealthy. We are often told this is the group that creates jobs so we shouldn't tax them. Really??? How about, this is the group that hires illegal aliens; this is the group that generally doesn't provide health insurance for employees thus the taxpayer picks up the tab when they do go to the emergency room (same for illegals). Another reason, they have more to lose (like insurance, the more you have to protect the more you pay). Finally, this is the group that can afford to attend $1000,$5000,$10000 a plate fundraisers for elected officials thus opening the door to influence and favors.

Good thinking. Because you think a rich person must be guilty of harboring illegal aliens, they are all guilty. Because they have money, you figure that they can afford what you want to take from them. Because they have money, you are justified in taking it. Sounds pretty barbaric to me. Like Attila. I get to take what you have. I don't like what you do with your money, so I will take it and use it better.

Guess you didn't read the whole post or you were too focused. Small businessman are the most likely to hire illegals. Who pays for their medical care and other benefits? Taxpayers do. They reap the benefits of cheap labor and the taxpayer picks up the tab for everything else. Why shouldn't they pay more to help cover the costs.

Most people I know who dislike paying any taxes consider the practice barbaric. Its a necessary evil. I like the benefits taxes bring overall. Of course I would like to see a shift to eliminating all deductions and let everyone keep a little more. Would also like to see a shift to fee based services including selling off the interstate highway system to private buyers (like Mexico) who would recoup their investment by TOLLS. You don't like paying taxes so how would tolls grab you. Use the highway, pay for it then.

Heck Willow, I'll make it easy for you. Let's just return to the tax rates of 1945. We were at war then like now and Americans need to sacrifice to save us from the evil Muslims. Highest marginal rate: 94%; LOWEST: 23%.

Dumbass, they have had tax breaks since 2004, where are the jobs?...they have no reason to create jobs, they are already making record profits, why would they hire more employees?..they don't need them...

Why not use a basic analogy.

Who here has ever made a 4.0 GPA...earning that GPA through hard work and studies.

Now, in order for those who are failing, why not give 1.0 to an F student or a D student? Then they could pass and be more on equal footing.

Or another scenario.

Say we are all on an island. We all have 2 of us have 300 island dollars, the other one has 1000 island dollars. Now, the government decides the one who has 1000 island dollars because he is in the business of making and selling huts must get taxed at higher rate. Well, now he can't invest in hiring workers to make more huts. He is strapped to only be able to {barely} pay for the current workers salaries and health insurance.

And that is becoming too much so instead of hiring he fires some of the workers.

Now the economy of the island is in a recession/depression state.

The government decides, we must tax the 1000 dollars even higher.

Does this make any sense?
