The meaning of marriage is one man and one women. If two of the same sex wanted to be together they would have to call it something else.

If Civil Unions will shut these people up about their rights, I say Civil Unions are a great idea. but, keep in mind what God said. Is there an exact law for the meaning of Civil Union?

Why does anyone else care?
I don't care what you do or who you do it with. Why do you care so much about what I do or who I do it with?
Just because you don't like it, doesn't give you the right to tell me how to live my life?
Does your marriage hurt me in any way? No. Should my marriage (or civil union) hurt you in any way?
No, and it doesn't - you just disagree with it so you have to make a big deal out of nothing.
I bet there are things you do that I disagree with, but you don't see me trying to stop you or make your life miserable. So why do you people feel it is your right to do this to us?
Maybe if someone had a good arguement against it, it would be worth listening to. But just because some book written thousands of year ago says so, that's all you've got.
I'm sure if you looked in this book, you could find a dozen or more things it says you shouldn't do, but that YOU do anyway. But I guess you can pick and chose which commandments apply to you and which do not. At least I don't lie about it or try to hide it.

Hypocrites.
Matthew 19:9 - And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except [it be] for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.
Mark 10:9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
Oops! I guess all you divorcees are in the same boat as the same sex folks - it's against the book for you to get a divorce and/or to re-marry.
(Unless that is just another one of Gods rule you are willing to overlook because it applies to you and not to someone else).
Anyone want to start a poll about the evil of getting a divorce or of remarrying? I didn't think so - otherwise over 53%(national divorce rate average) of you folks would have to admit to sinning against God - and not caring about it.
Or maybe you just missed that part in the book because you to busy searching for something to criticise someone else on.
Matthew 7:5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

I like how bible thumpers jump back and forth between the old and new testaments to support they so-called arguments.
They use the old testament to drag out some old laws from Moses to prove their point.
But when you point out other Mosiac laws they no longer follow, then they start saying that they only follow the new testament laws of Jesus and that the old laws were superseded.
Sounds like you'll pull anything out of context to try to prove your point.
If you really studied the bible like you falsely claim to, you'll see that Christ was about loving your fellow man, not about trying to torment people just because they have different beliefs.
I wish you people were REAL Christians and not just cafeteria christians.
<< Cafeteria Christian means picking and choosing, as if "sliding our food tray along a cafeteria's counter", referring to some Christians' making a personal selection of Christian teaching, "picking and choosing the stuff you want and discarding the rest". The term implies that an individual's professed religious belief is actually a proxy for their personal opinions rather than an acceptance of Christian doctrine.>> --- BINGO !!!
