In the end, aren't we all gonna get the death penalty?

Discuss.

I cannot penalise anyone to death, it's not my place. Now if I had to defend myself or loved ones that is a different story. Whatever it takes to get the offending party to stop.
This fellow that shot up and killed the folks in Arizona is a punk. He needs some kind of time in prison. They said on the news he did google searches about solitary confinement and lethal injection, so he probably wants to be locked up by himself till he dies. Who knows how the wheels of justice will turn. Seems to me he needs to be as uncomfortable as possible till he dies. He killed a child.
Those big tough guys in the prisons don't pay much attention to all that "crazy acting" they'll just slap his teeth out and tell him to shut up...in so many words.
As far as us all having the death penalty, I just don't know. I suppose it depends on your beliefs and philosophy. For the Christian; Death represents freedom. Freedom from this world of suffering and trouble, and it is a goal to be attained, the more suffering we endure here on earth, the greater the treasures after death. That is how my Grandparents felt, and I can see nothing at all wrong with their faith.
Yet for others death is a miserable thing, that only promises more suffering and agony. Others yet believe they are reincarnated and become another entity altogether and that life never really ends.
Either way I think justice will prevail. There were numerous witnesses, video, erratic history, and so forth.
Of course in some places those things don't really matter. If the sentencing is done by a Jury it can go either way. If the verdict is decided by a jury it can go either way.
For that is a privilege we have in the United States Of America; if we are on a jury, we become the law. The jury does not have to vote with the law if it doesn't think the law is right. It votes with their own sense of right and wrong, the law is whatever you want it to be when you are a juror, as evidenced by the many cases where people scream foul. Yet that is our system.

He stepped out and put so many people at risk. Listen to what they found on his compter, doesn't that sound like someone that knew what they are doing? Pray for his soul but fry his butt.

Oh, don't think I am saying it is. I don't think: 1. That he is insane or 2. That he should get off with an insanity plea.

The death penality as it's practiced in some Louisiana courts is ineffective. I worked Death Row at Angola for 14 months 1999 tyo 2000. I witnessed 4 men released or transferred to main Prison for lesser convictions. That's the four I know about - two were white and two were black.

Just to put myself in the shoes of the loved ones left behind in Arizona, he deserves it if anyone ever has. Some people are just plain evil by choice. He did his research, and made his choice. There is evidence that he was not a balanced person, some days I am not either. But how can you even think that someone of this calibur should live and breath life on our planet after what he did? It was pre-meditated and cruel. Just like these child molesters. Send them to the Lord and let Him decided what to do with them. They don't fit in on our earth.

What has the tragic incidents in Arizona have to do with Louisiana??? People are being railroaded into prison and death row. Wake up...killing "someone" because a crime was committed is .....what? can't you figure it out.

IF and againd I say IF someone breaks into my home I will KILL to defend my family and myself. I will not loose sleep over it. I would have a hard time to sentance some one to death for a crime if I didn't have all the facts. There are usually three (3) sides to each story. There is your side, my side and somewhere in the middle is the truth.

the death penalty is to easy he sould have to suffer the rest of his life until God calls him. Life in Prison is a much harsher punishment than the dealth penalty. They are segerated in single cells.

Robbed makes a good point. Weather in 60-bed dormatories or in a cell block, incarceration is a terrible punishment. Also, life in prison is by far less expensive - than supporting a convict and paying millions of dollars over years of appeals.
