The death penalty is always wrong, even for the most evil acts. Two wrongs do not make a right. It is not for us to play God. He will meet his judgement day in due time. He is obviously mentally ill. It's not for us to end his life. It's for us to make sure he never hurts anyone else again, probably with treatment and life without parole. My heart goes out to all the grieving survivors. However I would still feel this way even if it were one of my loved ones. There is no reason for the death penalty except pure vengefulness. We The People are supposed to be against cruel and unusual punishment, remember? Even when we feel furious, emotional and heartbroken. You can't even make a financial argument for the death penalty because a death penalty trial costs many times the amount of life without parole. once a society allows the death penalty for the most vicious and vile people, then the slippery slope ALWAYS leads to unjust situations such as as poor defendents, Blacks, American Indians, teenagers, people later found innocent through DNA testing, low IQ and borderline retarded people executed, all killed by government. This is where our society is now. Have you ever heard of a wealthy white man executed?Of course not. Better to ban this barbaric punishment-even for the most barbaric people- and avoid the slippery slope that so often leads to injustice. Let's join other modern democracys and the civilized world.

Well maybe you will feel really bad when someone kills your wife and then your family because he killed before and was let out of jail after serving 15 years. You people make me sick. You and all the death penalty dorks are Yellow COWARDS and scared to stand up and be a REAL MAN!! I hope you die slowly and in pain too while your killer watches you!

I support the death penalty, the only problem is that it takes to long for the execution. In the time it takes for the death penalty to take effect, the bastard has already been in jail for 20-25 years living it up at taxpayer's expense (free meals, free hospital care, free cable TV, free exercise rooms, free libraries, etc.)

He's white, I say "LETS DO IT".
Unless they are going to believe him after he pulled his white mentally insane card.

I never heard a black murderer being able to successfully use the mantally insane card.
I guess only whites can be insane.

When there is no doubt like in this case I still think that he is entitled to a fare amount of time. First he should have the amount of time it would take to set the whole thing up on television so other scum could watch and see what they might get.
Second they should kill him very slowly, this would be his appeal time.
BUT, if you think this is to cruel, lets let the families of the victims take care of it.

Capital punishment is difficult if it's based on evidence with no witnesses or just one, or not too sure, or the suspect got away and was caught later on.
This guy was witnessed by DOZENS of witnesses, probably partially caught on tape or film and apprehended on site. Slam Dunk case.

The Arizona shooter was just acting American... The shooter was expressing his political views in the only way available and that is all.

There is a very good reason for the death penalty, punishment for murderers and the protection of prison guards and innocent citizens from the murderer murdering again. Almost 70% of the states and the federal gov. and the military have the death penalty. America leads, we don't follow. Hang the Arizona shooter and SOON.

Not only all that but there already are way to many people on this planet. We do we feel this need to save every damn body?

Daily Horoscope for May 21

Libra

Look after yourself today, dear Libra, because you don't have as much energy and self-confidence as usual. In fact, your spirits may be trailing around your ankles, making you feel wretched and listless. A pessimistic mood certainly won't help you cheer up, and you may be feeling overwhelmed by responsibilities or other people's problems. The fact is that you've got things out of proportion, but you'll feel better about them soon.
