I agree, to forgive is devine. But, one thing forgiveness does not do; negate the sin nor repeal the punishment.
In speaking of God, even though he forgave us of ALL that we do, there remained a punishment. Someone had to pay for it all, there remained a punishment for your and my transgression. The saviour was sacrificed.
God never repealed 'an eye for an eye.' Though he superceded this thru the saviour, punishment must be met.
Question; if a person known for their life of crime involving rapes, shootings and stabbings, shoots and kills your son or daughter, considering that this person has taken something from numerous people that can never be returned, regained, repaid, where no recompense can ever be achieved, this person openly shows no remorse, no conscience, but is totally apathetic, showing only distain towards you, should this person be given more protection than you and not pay in the same way for that which he has taken??
