Abortion Debate - Sullivan, IN

if people are given second chances why cant BABIES (not just "fetus's") be given a FIRST chance??

We have killed over 55,000.000 babies (yes that's millions) since 1973 in this country alone!! Its wrong, immoral,an easy way out , ridiculous, cruel, and I could go on and on. It should not ever be used as birth control. We have stuff for that if people would just use it once in awhile. Itsd also against Gods word. Murder! I know someone will argue this, so have fun. Arguing won't make it right. It will still be wrong

Well I don't believe it should be used as a birth control...there are other reasons that I do believe that it should be legal...one I will say is that their are cases where them mothers life and the baby's life is at risk especially when the mother has other children to raise!!
Also it being made illegal will lead to many weman going to wackoo doctors and being hurt very badly even death!
As for it being against god well I can understand that but I also know that he is our only judge!!
I don't agree with abortion in certain cases but there are also many that I do and understand...so as for me I think it should be legal...and people need to leave the judging up to god!!

If you've become pregnant from being raped or if your life is in danger should be the only reasons for an abortion, otherwise I don't believe it's the right thing to do....plenty of people in the world can't have kids and would love the chance to adopt. That's a better alternative than abortion, imo.

How would YOU like having the child of the man who raped you? I'll bet your stand on this issue would change real fast if it happened to you!

That's speculation. Exceptions should be made for extreme circumstances. So you are saying it is murder period and is wrong, correct? What if the mother would die (hypothetically) giving birth to the child? What if the mother was raped? She's required to have this baby according to you even though it could cost her life in the process? Or she has to have this reminder everyday that she was raped? I mean I know it's an innocent child and all, and I (obviously) wouldn't blame a child born from a rape, but I also wouldn't hate the mother for getting an abortion based on THOSE TWO GROUNDS ALONE. Adoption should. There are too many couples on this planet who can't have children that should be allowed to adopt, that's a far better alternative than abortion just because you don't want a baby. If you are raped or there are lethal complications to the birth then okay, sure, allow them to abort if that is the case, otherwise suck it up, have the baby, decide if you want it or not, and if not, allow someone who could take care of the child better than you to adopt it. That easy.

I understand the rape view, but adoption is always a option. Just because the father is a monster doesnt mean the child is.

I agree. Adoption is always an option. If abortion is an option then adoption is too!

If you're talking about yourself in this scenario then you should have let someone else raise the child. That much resentment has to be pretty miserable for the child and it's not his/her fault.

Sounds like most people are Republicans here but everyone votes Democratic. Why is that?

Yes, abortion is murder, plain and simple. Morally it should never happen.
Now let's join the real world for awhile shall we? How many people do you personally know that you have said "they should never have children because...." and how many children do you know are being neglected and/or abused?
How many children get lost in the foster care program because "adoption is better than abortion?" Reports show that these kids usually have a history of failed relationships and jobs after they graduate foster care and get out on their own.
If there are truly so many people looking to adopt why is the foster system overflowing? Why are there so many people running off to foreign countries to adopt when they could do it here?
Please answer these questions before attacking me for bringing them up.

Because the laws and requirements to adopting children are ridiculous in this country, and by the time you can actually be considered fit for adoption you've paid so much money to the government and other people that the adoption paperwork goes through that it is stupid. anywhere between 5,000 to 50,000 dollars to adopt ONE CHILD, and that's before you even get considered eligible for adoption. No one can afford that, that's why so many kids end up in the system. lower the costs to adopt a child, and stop being so stern on regulations. in my opinion it seems like they want you to fail eligibility for adoption. There are too many good couples who would raise these kids with discipline and respect getting tossed to the wayside because of ridiculous rules, regulations, and fees for adoption. Too many things need to change in this country before it gets better.
