It is strange however with the unborn victims of violence act people can be charged with up to murder 1 if a miscarriage occurs during an assault regardless of the attackers knowlege of the womans pregnancy and regardless of what stage of development the unborn victim is. So even if it is still in the first trimester this law recognizes it as a human being...unless the mother is the one making the decision...wtf?

I feel only emergency abortions should be performed. Taking unborn life because it isn't convenient is morally wrong.

I hear many different arguments for and against abortion. However, do you want to know what I think is even more sad? Children being born unwanted and put into the foster system to face neglect, assault, rape, and the feeling of being unwanted and not understanding why, blaming themselves for no one wanting them. That leads to self-destruction, not a productive life.

What percentage of children does that actually happen to? Any primary sources to cite?

This is a debate, ad-hominem attacks serve no purpose in advancing your position. That is to say "- you're a doo doo head" is not a valid argument.

I'm not here to site sources, its common sense what happens in foster care. However, my personal opinion is, I do not feel that abortion should be completely illegal because:

1) The government should have no say what a female does with her body.

2) There are legitimate reasons when abortion should be considered.

3) There are not enough adoptive parents in the world to take the unwanted children that would suffer in the foster system.

4) This topic should not be a unisex topic that is debated and voted on, it directly effects the female population more than it does the male population. Men do not have a clue what a female goes through when they become pregant, do not have to deal with the emotions, the complication, etc.

If this is passed whats next, forced sterilization? female circumcision?

This is a debate, if you are going to assert something you should be prepared to provide evidence to back your claim. That is kind of how debates work.

According to a 2010 study by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children & Families on page 25 it states that "Of all children in foster care during the reporting period, what percent were not victims of a substantiated or indicated maltreatment by foster parents or facility staff members?"

The percentage was 99.68% So .32% were victims of substantiated or indicated maltreatment by foster parents or facility staff members.

It sucks that it is .32% of them may have been abused but that is a very small percentage and nowhere high as you had eluded it to be.

and its called a typo...

Those are the reported incidents, you know from the children who choose to speak up or from the reports made by adults who know what are going on. Statistics are not 100% and are skewed based on facts.

That being said what do you have to back up your knowledge on this debate. You have nothing but your opinion of what you think just like everyone else.

Abuse is only a small percentage of the issues within the foster system. What about the other 99.68%.. the ones who feel abandoned and suffer emotional or psychological problems because they do not have families who they feel want them because they have not been adopted? The ones who jump from foster family to foster family until they are 18 yrs old and are forced out of the system with no one to turn too?

Not quite...abortion is taking life. The arguments that pro-choice proponents use such as "it's just a mass of cells, it's part of the mother and not an independant lifeform, etc. are not what makes abortion legal. What makes it legal is Roe vs Wade where the court decided that since the fetus has not been born it is not a United states citizen and therefore does not have rights. That is why it is not murder...

However 18the USC 1841, the unborn victims of violence act, regards the unborn fetus at any stage of gestation to be a victim in it's own when a violent crime occurs, regardless of the offenders knowledge of the womans' pregnancy.

Talk about a conflicting double standard.
