Commander Says al-Qaida - Virtually Destroyed' in Kirkuk

WASHINGTON, May 12, 2008 – Violence in Iraq’s Kirkuk province has dropped by 70 percent, and coalition and Iraqi forces have “virtually destroyed” al-Qaida in Iraq in the region, the commander of the U.S. brigade combat team in the area said today. Video

Army Col. David Paschal, commander of 1st Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, said that as security improves in the strategic northern province, changes are happening in the economy and in governance that help cement the security progress in place.

Mission accomplished! We won! Now let's get our troops out of their! BTW, is there anything left of Kirkuk? Or is it pacified like Falluja/Vietnam was?

what most people in the west fail to understand is - all muslims look at other muslims as their brothers.

therefore, the big question is - do muslims see al queda as muslim brothers?

if so, then, al queda has not been destroyed. they are just waiting for the west to leave.

and then, they will continue their crusade of forcing non-muslims to convert to islam.

my husband is in that Brigade and even if that is not a truthful statement, I am proud of him and all of the soliers that are there making sacrifices and doing the job they have sworn to do.

Very well said - and thank you for your sacrifice, too! It's not an easy job being a military spouse, either! I hopr your man comes home safe & sound - and they ALL get the heroes welcome they so richly deserve.
