Narendra Modi government to train IAS, IPS, IFoS officers in dealing with Naxalism

In a first, the government has planned a training programme for IAS, IPS and forest service officers on dealing with Naxalism . The Department of Personnel and Training has written to chief secretaries of eight states seeking nomination of at least three officers each from Indian Administrative Service , Indian Police Service and Indian Forest Service for the course.

Special trains to clear festive season rush

The South Eastern Railway will run nine pairs of Weekly Superfast Premium Specials between Santragachi and Puri and 17 pairs of Bi-weekly Superfast Janasadharan Specials between Santragachi and Chennai between Sep 18 and Nov 15 with a view to clear the extra rush for the ensuing festive season. A south Eastern Railway media release said reservation of the premium special between Santragachi and Puri will be made through internet and dynamic fare charged.

India successfully test-fired its nuclear capable Agni-I missile

Balasore : India today successfully test-fired its indigenously built nuclear capable Agni-I missile, which has a strike range of 700 km, from a test range off Odisha coast as part of a user trial by the Army. The surface-to-surface, single-stage missile, powered by solid propellants, was test-fired from a mobile launcher at about 11.11 hrs from launch pad-4 of the Integrated Test Range at Wheeler Island, about 100 km from here, Defence Research and Development Organisation spokesman Ravi Kumar Gupta said.

Justice Arijit Passayat, vice-chairman of SIT on black money, held a meeting with government officials at Cuttack in Odisha on August 24 to figure out if mining companies, which generate huge illegal income by drawing more than the allotted quantity of ore, stash it away as black money.

Dengue claims one more life in Odisha

The mosquito-borne dengue virus Wednesday claimed one more life in Odisha taking the death toll from the disease to four in the state over the last two months, an official said. The latest death was reported from Sri Ram Chadra Bhanja medical college and hospital at Cuttack, about 25 km from state capital Bhubaneswar, an official of the state health control room told IANS.
