Three get life term for murder of APP's wife

Mysore, Sept.17- Mandya District Principal and Sessions Court Judge Chandrasekhar Patil on Tuesday sentenced three men convicted for murdering Latha, wife of Assistant Public Prosecutor of Mysore M.D. Raghu to life and imposed a fine of Rs.10,000 on each of them. The Judge on Monday had convicted APP Raghu's nephew Manju, son of Govindegowda , Chandra and Mani for murdering Latha, while letting off another accused Basava, whose role in the murder was not proved by the prosecution.

Miraculous escape for bus passengers

Mysore, Sept. 16- About 23 passengers travelling in a KSRTC bus had a miraculous escape when the bus in which they were travelling crashed into the side-wall of Dalvoy Lake and came to a standstill, thus preventing the bus from falling into the lake.

Techie among seven drowned in separate incidents

Mysore, Sept.15- A software engineer from Bangalore was among seven persons who met watery graves in five separate incidents at Kabini reservoir at Beechanahalli in H.D. Kote taluk, Balamuri in Srirangapatna taluk and KRS Backwaters and other places around the city on a tragic Sunday yesterday as three others managed to swim to safety. In the first incident, Bharath , son of Mahesh, a resident of Hunsur and Chetan , son of Basavaraju, a resident of Kalkuni, who went for a swim in Kabini reservoir were drowned as their friends Prajwal, Venkatesh and Muddukrishna managed to swim to safety.
