Curfew was relaxed on Wednesday morning at the riot-hit towns of Miraj, Sangli and Ichalkaranji in western Maharashtra following gradual improvement in the situation, authorities said.

MUMBAI: A few attacks were reported from the riot-torn areas of Kolhapur-Sangli, where curfew continues to be in effect.

Mumbai: Curfew was extended on Tuesday for the next 24 hours at Ichalkaranji in Maharashtra's Kolhapur district, which witnessed communal violence on Monday.

Shoot-at-sight orders were issued in a violence-affected Ichalkaranji town of western Maharashtra on Monday evening after one person was stabbed and 40 places torched in communal riots.

After the five-day-long violent communal clashes, Maharashtra is limping back to normal.
