Sharjah to woo Indian tourists

Sharjah, Sep 14 After a successful campaign in Europe, the UAE emirate Sharjah will launch an India Road Show Sep 15-22 to woo tourists. The 2014 road show in India is being hosted by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority in cooperation with Air Arabia airline and Sharjah's hotel and tourism industry.

A Malaysia Airlines flight to Hyderabad, India, has been forced to return to Kuala Lumpur due to an autopilot defect shortly after takeoff. The airline says the defect didn't affect the safety of the aircraft or passengers but the captain turned back as a precaution.

Andhra Pradesh panel on new capital to tour Asian nations to study models

After completing tours in the country, members of a special committee set up by the Andhra Pradesh Government to study various models for building the new capital of the State, will visit Singapore, Malaysia and China as part of their assignment. The panel, headed by Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P Narayana, will visit the city-state in Southeast Asia and also Putrajaya from September 22 to 26. It will then travel to China from October 5 to 9 to study the various city models in the giant Communist nation.

High Court adjourns hearing following JNTU plea HYDERABAD: Justice A Rajasekhar Reddy of Hyderabad High Court on Friday said that he would hear the arguments on the next Friday in the batch of writ petitions filed regarding the admissions into various private engineering colleges offering post-graduate courses. The counsel representation JNTU of Hyderabad sought grant of time for filing a country affidavit in the matter and heeding the request, the court posted the matter to next Friday.

Polling under way in Telangana's Medak Lok Sabha seat

Polling is under way for by-election to the Medak Lok Sabha constituency in Telangana and Nandigama assembly seat in Andhra Pradesh. Election officials said the polling began in both the constituencies amid tight security at 7 a.m. Voters will be allowed to cast their votes till 6 p.m. Electronic Voting Machines at few places developed snag, resulting in the delay in start of the polling process.
