Police officer involved in fatal crash will not be charged

“That time gap prevented authorities from ascertaining a timely blood-alcohol level”

Cook County prosecutors have decided not to seek criminal charges against an off-duty Chicago police officer involved in a crash that killed two people last Thanksgiving, angering the victims' families. via Chicago Tribune

Officer John Ardelean is a MURDERER and the chicago police let him get away with it. The chicago police are not heroes, they more closely resemble murderous thugs. A real hero would be a police officer who stood up to the corruption and abuse of authority that the chicago police regularly display.

The chicago police seem to be the only ones who don't realize that they are rapidly becoming a national disgrace.

All the chicago police have are excuses.

The chicago police deserve NO RESPECT and they should be treated by the community as nothing more than the scum of the earth they have shown themselves to be. This is not an attack. This is frustration with what the facts show.

Is anyone even surprised?!? I'm sure all his buddies in blue took him out for a celebratory toast afterwards.

Chan, I am actually surprised. I am also obviously quite naive as I didn't realize how deep the corruption was within the chicago police department.

Everyone says that not all cops are bad cops, but, where are the cops reporting violations by their fellow officers?

at least they they will allow comment for it lest someone who can't write and uses strong language does it for them

::snirk::

quotes from article:

"....The officer has been relieved of police powers, though he is still being paid.

The family said authorities are ignoring the fact that Ardelean was speeding and that some witnesses said Ardelean was on the wrong side of the road. A video also showed him consuming what appeared to be several drinks in a bar before the crash, the family said. A bartender testified, however, that some of the drinks were water."

Novocastrian, I've been reading your posts and it seems odd that one of them would have been deleted.

In any event, thank you for keeping this issue alive. If this does not outrage the community regarding police abuse and corruption I'm not sure what will.

Looks like we have wonderful things to look forward to from Jody! Great start to his heavy hand!

This is unbelieveable..

LOCK UP this CROOK! Close to 7 hours and he still blew .o32. How much does he weigh? How big a guy is he? HE had to have been WASTED!!!
Seriously... would a regular Joe have been able to get a pass on a blow- and then be able to do it 7 hours later??

If someone were hurt or killed they would have been dragged to the hospital for blood tests. TOTALLY A HORRIBLE CROCK!!

Thanks, Z.

I saw an extensive report on WMAQ-CH 5 and felt this outrage.

And was surprised when I didn't see it here, although it was a decision made today.

An article was posted by the reporter, but no "comments" section, so I just posted a more criticial sounding titled post:

"officer charged with DUI resulting in 2 deaths will not be criminall charged."

All of my posts, including my condolences to the families of were deleted -- and a comment section was posted with the author's original title.

(which may be more appropriate)

Regardless, I think people should know more about this story.

And yes - it is creepy to be deleted by the Trib.

There are two sides to the story, but two young boys are dead and something "unethical" certainly has gone on with the CPD to protect an officer.

It stinks, doesn't it?

You are correct REALITY, unfortunately, this issue will be non-existent by tomorrow and the cpd will continue being above the law.

I am completely disgusted by this, but, what is the point of even commenting. Nothing will happen.

The CPD have gotten away with murder.

Where are the heroes who report corruption? Surely not in the CPD. Maybe all police offers are bad since i've not heard of one standing up to report the misdeeds of a fellow officer.

Sickening.

Two drunks killed and one sober guy should go to jail just because he's a cop? Sorry. If you can't make a case, you have to let him walk. Let's also remember that the .03 BAC was from an illegally conducted test and not admissible in court.

This is being posted now and will appear buried deep in the print edition tomorrow. Police cover up? Nope. Another case where a cop was hung out to dry by the media and cop haters who had no case.

the .03 was taken almost 7 hours after the accident... look at the facts. He most likely could not WALK at the time of the accident. He should have had a blood test done- immediately after. the other two paid with their lives. We are now paying him to do nothing. Blue justice for ya?

I would encourage all who are looking for truth and justice in this case to not respond to trolls or misinformed attempting to defend the murderer in this case.

Is is standard CPD procedure to not administer a breathalyzer after a fatal accident? If so then why did they administer one seven hours later? Seven hours later he possibly seemed intoxicated but not at the time? That makes no sense.

The CPD have excuses, but, what they don't have is the respect of the community or the ability to sleep well at night.

Fact, a killer is a killer whether they hide behind a gun and a badge or not.
