BIG SPLASH??!!!??? Hey Gorten - Bouwmeester's rights are worth practically nothing right now. Martin had all the leverage PRIOR to the the trade deadline in March. Once the Panthers held onto Bo for the playoff run they basically gave up the chance to get something big for him.

Do you think fans are that stupid??

Your lazy reporting may fool some here but any hockey fan knows this article wouldn't make a any paper up North.

Ah, nothing like a trip down Panthers disfunctional memory lane.

Gorton left out the biggest transaction in Panthers history:

2001: team purchased by arch-criminal & ponzi scheme fraud racketeer Alan Cohen.

And, as they say, voila! Here we are, 2009.

466 remaining fans.
National relevance of 0.
The Los Angeles Clippers are embarrassed by Panthers.

9 years since last playoff appearance.
12 years since last playoff game win.
13 years since last playoff series win.

And yes, they DO think the fans are that stupid!!

The best thing Sexton can do with Bouw is play him off Philly, Edmonton, and Calgary. All three want Bouw badly.

EDM and CGY could be pitted against each other in a bidding war. Think Edmonton wants Calgary to have his rights for a week (or vice versa)? If there's a way to get Phaneuf out of Calgary they should try it.

I hope Randy's a good poker player.

The bidding war begins July 1 when the market opens up. Until then I don't think teams will be trading mainstay players like Phaneuf for simple negotiating rights.
Randy doesn't have any cards to play. He'll probably take anything that comes his way like a fifth-round draft pick. He's in a corner after the team failed to deal J-Bouw back in March.

Attn: All you blowholes who were on these boards saying that JM knew what he was doing and that Bouw would get us to the playoffs...

Alan Cohen and Michael Skidmark would like to offer to offer you the exclusive right to buy '09/'10 playoff strips NOW in June! If we don't make it (and you know we will!), you can apply it towards our next playoff run in 2019-2020.

Florida Panthers
Cap room:$18.6 million
What they need: Start with a true No. 1 forward followed by a true No. 1 defenceman (assuming Jay Bouwmeester departs) and a true No. 1 goaltender. That's all. That's not to say the Panthers don't have some quality talent, but they lack a real first line.
What they might do: That's anybody's guess. The team doesn't have a general manager and ownership is up in the air. They certainly have the cap space to purchase significant upgrades, but it won't likely happen until the next GM is named.

Torrey was extremely proud at the time with Rob Niedermeyer- brother Scot maybe a possibility. JovoCop was an obsession..

another loosing season with this team before the season even starts. i find it funny that they are offering me my season tichets at less than half the normal price. section 114 face value are $95.00 each, they are offering them to me at $32.00 each. i can buy 3 sets of season tickets for the upcomming season cheaper than just 2 sets of tickets for last season. is that saying something or what?

If anyone wonders halfway into next season why the Panthers can't compete are nothing more than a farm team for the NHL, this is it.

Getting rid of excellent players that are just reaching their prime like Boumeester is exactly why the Panthers fail to compete year in and year out.

A winner simply cannot be built by acquiring needed talent in one area and selling off needed talent in another.

It looks like it will be another two steps back for this team. I continue to be saddened by what these charlatans have done to a once proud hockey franchise.

the best part is there are still a few guys talking X's & O's hockey, the panthers' draft needs, etc...
As if this were a legitimate business....

If we can hire a good GM we'll continue the progress we made last year. I'm optimistic although some questions remain.
