Defensive forwards are often the most under-appreciated players on most teams. What they do usually doesn't show up in highlight reels or the scoresheet, but they play important roles on the team despite that.

In an effort to improve the team's fourth line and performance at the face-off circle, GM Jim Rutherford decided to sign Tim Brent to a two-year deal which had a very low cap hit of $750k.
