Wild's Sheppard is a healthy scratch against Carolina

Full story: St. Paul Pioneer Press

James Sheppard's NHL matriculation hasn't always been smooth, but the young center had never really been scratched - not since he became a regular during his rookie season in 2007-08. But after nine games with no points and a minus-5 in the plus/minus column, coach Todd Richards decided to sit the team's first-round pick in the 2006 entry draft.

Good win! Too bad Shep can't stay in the press box for awhile. Just 60-70 games. He complains Lemaires system holds him back and runs his yap about how he should be utilized, now he's had 9 games and still ZIPPO! Deal this lump. We must really be hurtin for depth in Houston if we have to keep this guy. How bout we trade him to Cali or FLA for a couple o' them Palm trees with Christmas lights on 'em for out in the lobby and call Smith back up.

Brunette is playing very well and will pass Rolston no problem this season. He could use some offensive help, but he is not the reason why th team is struggling. Playing so many road games early has hurt the team, but the schedule will pay the Wild back in due time. Perhaps by then, the Wild will be threatening for a play-off spot.

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Scorpio

Your thoughts turn to the past today, putting you in a nostalgic mood. You're awash with sentimental tears as you dwell on days gone by or gaze at photos of people you'll never see again. However, try not to let this mood of reminiscence turn into a tendency to feel sorry for yourself and therefore to demand special treatment from others.
