Miikka Kiprusoff made 39 saves, and the Calgary Flames opened their season with a 5-3 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday.

A new coach, a new powerhouse defenceman and a "Fleury" of hype around an inspiring comeback will fill the Saddledome with a sense of optimism tonight as the Calgary Flames host their season opener.
