First things first: Flyers rookie camp begins Saturday, runs through Tuesday, then there will be a rookie game on Wednesday afternoon at Skate Zone against Washington Capitals rookies. 1. Brayden Schenn, a natural center, is expected to get the first shot at replacing the departed Scott Hartnell as the top-line left wing to play with center Claude Giroux and right wing Jacob Voracek.

Yesterday, reports broke that Ryan White would miss Philly's training camp while recovering from pectoralis surgery. While not a huge story - no offense to Ryan White , but he's Ryan White - it did underscore the remarkable depth the Flyers have down the middle.

Flyers: Claude Giroux will miss Scott Hartnell on and off ice, but 'we have to move on'
Giroux was among the NHL scoring leaders three sesaons in a row centering a Flyers top line that often had Hartnell on the left wing, finishing third in 2011-12 with a career-high 95 points, tied for 13th with 48 points in the lockout-shortened 2012-13 campaign and third again last season with 86 points.
